Post by w140fan » Sun 11 Jun, 2017 3:22 pm

Hello all,

Just purchased this 1992 w140 300se. Has a little bit of work to do, mostly minor but she drives beautifully. What a car.

Look forward to learning lots from this forum.

Best wishes and safe driving

Greg

Welcome aboard Greg.

Will be interesting to hear about cost of ownership and your experiences. I know a lot of us are somewhat scared of the W140.

The biggie is the AC evaporator. :banghead:

The rest including the self closing door issues can be worked around now.

Absolutely true,
my father had this 300SE from 1992 to 1995 and it is still the only car I know, where you could sit as comfortably in the back as in the front. The 300 is a bit challenged with the heavy body, but downhill I got it into the limiter at around 230km/h :laughing6: ... Just parking in a hotel garage was a challenge, when you come from a W201 :banghead:

Have fun with your car and welcome here"

Actually, the Rangie is just as easy to park as a 201. :occasion5: except for the "LOW CLEARANCE" carparks :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6: then you get a free crewcut with every parking attempt. :occasion5:

But I never had an issue parking Schultz either - in fact I think it was just as easy, because you knew it had an awesome turning circle for it's size. I miss that car...

Thanks all, as you can see by my avatar the car has 20" rims on it courtesy of my son in law and my wife likes a bit of bling lol . Self closing doors still work most of the time and the rear hand brake shoes need replacing x
