300D brakes

Post by GrampiansMerc »

I am giving the Sedan a birthday (before lots of Summer - cruising to the beach) with new brakes and I assume new discs (I know the back ones need replacing)

Parts sourcing:

Are Bendix ok for pads?
Where do I get the discs? - I have only ever fitted secondhand ones on the past.

1980 w123 300TD "Anna" - sold
1979 300D - sold, gone to be restored

2006 Musso - Korean Mercedes, 5 cylinder diesel - Blown head gasket, buggered motor, grrrrrrr (I will stick with German Mercs)

I use Bendix pads - They are OK. Make sure you order the right thickness for the fronts as there are two sizes. Bendix Discs / Rotors as well

I've previously bought rotors from run auto. Shipping from overseas was cost prohibitive at the time, but this was a year or two ago. My 300d doesn't need great pads as there's not much to show down, but if you're after low dust, maybe try ceramic type pads

Hey Tim
Can you explain the two different thicknesses in front pads? different years or models or wagons vs sedans

The front pads up to 10/1979 were 15mm thick, from 11/1979 they were 17.5mm thick.

Went to Bursons, Bendix pads $140 for the rear sets.
It seems a little dear, but maybe thats my fault for going to Bursons... :dontknow:

I didnt price front pads...thats next, but may not go back to Bursons.
