Hi brains trust
I have a w114 with a carburettored m110 and automatic..
When I drive it, it takes ages to shift into to gear and won't change until I'm travelling faster than 75km/h.
Is there a way to adjust the shift points??or is there something that needs a service?
There is what appears to be a kick down rod coming off the accelerator linkage will adjusting this help it??
Thanks
Ron

Re: W114 with m110 auto question: gear shift points
There is a rod that goes from the throttle linkage on the engine down to the drivers side of transmission. This rod tells the transmission the throttle opening and it uses this info as part of the process of working out when to change gear. There is a (or rather should be) a bush at the transmission end, check to see if it is still there.

Thanks ill check it out.
My carburetor has been changed to a 350 holley by the previous owner and noticed i wasn't getting full throttle and adjusted it after which the shift points changed.
How is it adjusted?
Thanks
Ron

Re: W114 with m110 auto question: gear shift points
The factory linkages allow for about 10% movement in the linkages before the throttle linkage starts to react. The idea is that the control rod going down to the transmission moves before the throttle opens. Sounds like you adjusted the 10% out of it.
