w115 now + questions

Post by beerbaron »

So I have a w115 240d auto
Overall it is ok
interior is great
body is fair , but with some help of a local forum member , the rust spots will be fixed

so question is motor
yes the 240d is slow , i realise that , but also realise the old 280 motor out of my rusted 114 is also beyond repair
so question is
given that there a a large number of w123 300d;s around ,could the motor out of a 300d slot into a w115 ?

i understand there is an issue with the oil filter , which needs to be mounted remotely
is there anything else ?

I looked into it many years ago for my 250CE that had had an M110 jammed in there, and aside from the filter and wiring and the two support trusses at 45deg each side of top of engine bay, seemed would fit, that said, the engine bay area wasn't generic between engine figments so am betting some re-eng is needed.

so the w115 has the two support trusses
i wouldnt want to remove them

the 250 engine would fit easily
but is that a better engine than a 300d ?
