Hi,
What is the purpose of the vacuum lines that connect to the fan switch?
Does this assist with regulating the fan speed in any way?

Re: Fan Switch Vacuums
I'm just guessing but I would have thought it had something to do with the recirc flap. Comes on with a/c etc. so maybe at high fan speeds?

Re: Fan Switch Vacuums
When you completely turn the fans off the flap closes - via vacuum

Re: Fan Switch Vacuums
Thanks for clearing that up for me
I did notice the flaps adjust according to the fan speed as well

Re: Fan Switch Vacuums
originally yes the outside air flap closes with the fan switch fully deactivated. but theres a good chance one or both of the vacuum diaphragms are failed (or are about to) and its just a vacuum leak in that position.
They are - naturally - no longer available, but there is a 126 version that can be adapted to fit on both sides of the manual 124 hvac box.
Both my 124's had these pods blown and i've changed the pair on one and not the other (dash removal required) I purchased a pair for my other 124 should i ever decide to remove the dash on that too.
Leaving the fan switch anywhere between 1 and 0 when not in use is less stressful on the aged pods than going the whole way off, if they aren't ruined already.
There is also a right and wrong way to connect the hoses to the switch.
