Re-installing a COMAND system

Post by PeterQ » Sat 07 Jul, 2018 10:02 am

My A209 had a COMAND system from the factory. By the time I got it an after market system was installed, with a bunch of optical connectors hanging in the breeze behind the dash. If I can find one at reasonable dollars I'd like to put a COMAND back in - at least then I could set the clock on the dashboard. Is this relatively simple or are we talking lots of SDS work to let it know that it's OK to work in this car, etc.? The nearest place with SDS is 100k away.
I know there are wiring considerations too - what/how did they do things to install the current system, and how reversible is that, etc., yet to be checked.
