Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Post Pictures of your car here!
Don't forget to include details such as year, colour etc.
If your car has a story, for example; how you came across it, - put it in here with the pictures. It's always nice to read someone else's experiences.
If you've done any modifications / improvments, Here's the place to show them off - Post lots of pics!
It's not a bad idea to revisit your post every now and then, to make sure your pictures are still up, especially if you've linked them to your photobucket / imageshack / picasa web album.
We'd also like to encourage those who do post a Project car, and supply us with updates, to come back to your original post and edit it, rather than make a new post each time, by replying. It will help keep all your pictures and progress in one spot! - It also makes your post MUCH easier to view.
If you're unsure on how to upload pictures, go to the posting tutorial on the main board and try the test posting page, Don't forget to sign yourself up for a free account on imageshack / photobucket / Picasa etc.. if you haven't already.
Get to it! Show us ya Pics! :)

I'm not very good at this computer jiggery-pokery, nor am I much cop with a camera, but here goes. Either 4 pretty ordinary photos of my E200K will appear, or I will have wasted everyones time. Or both.

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Hi fellow Benz fans,
Here are some pictures of the eternity ring I gave my wife a little over two years ago.
It is a 1999 E430 Avantgarde. The colour is Indigo Pearl Metallic (paint code 339) I do get to drive it from time to time , it is a pleasure to drive and has converted me a Mercedes addict. Hope you enjoy the pictures and go to the W126 Star Shots to view my ride, a Diamond Blue 300SEL, an old girl but a good girl.
Regards,
Giles

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Hi folks the following is our 2006 E350 with 7 speed auto that we procured off MBM in Melb. after our much loved CLK 430 was written off when we were at a stand still on the Monash Freeway. The E 350 an Avantgarde is shod with 19's all around staggered with 275's on the rear and 235's on the front. The tyres are Toyo's which have been brilliant as opposed to Marangoni's which we first started with. We ditched them after 3 tyres self destructed in less than 12 months (Not hard driven). Interior is black with walnut trim, great car, but do miss the punch of the 430.

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Hi Guys,
I thought I would share my car with you all, she is a 1996 W210 E320 Elegance in Blue/Black and black leather and deul zone climate control.
I've owned her for the last six years and they have been the most trouble free years in all of the cars that I have owned (and thats alot of cars), I have only had to replace three items (other than normal service items) they being both rear window regulators L&R and the ignition switch, other than that it's been a great daily.
Currently she sits on Eilbach lowered springs on No1 pads and she is rolling on 19X8 and 19X9.5 TRW Mandrus Millenium's wraped
in Kumho KU31Ecsta SPT in 225/35/19 and 275/30/19, the reason for the ultra low profile tyre is that I get a litlle rubbing on the LH front guard with the 235's but the ride is very comfortable and the speedo is spot on accurate (I was a Product Manager at VDO in Bundoora so I had accsess to all sorts of cool test gear, i.e GPS based speedos and navigation testing equipment).
She has a bit of a AV system but it's not finished yet and may not be because of a pending company car, 2 W108 280's (one 3.5 and the other a straight six) and lack of room.
Enough jibber jabber, here are the pics.
The above shots were when i first bought the wheels, the tyres were great, they lasted 40.000k's so I recently replaced them with the same type.
Shot of the dash with the Jap spec wood panel I found at the wreckers so I can install a Double Din head unit.
More to come...........

As she currently stands with the LED tail lights and the clear front lights with HID's installed
This is my favorite pic with the W108 3.5 I rescued at Christmas last year (2010)
I hope you enjoy the pics and I will keep updating if I change anything or if I sell her.
Cheers

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Not many cars on here and a while since one was added! Lets fix that...
mine - 1997 E320 Avantgarde, Green/Black (although does appear blue/ black in some pics!) 5 speed and M104. Great car, best I have owned (just over 2 years now) Ok, update - owners manual says Green/ black but paint code (189) says Smaragdsschwarz Metallic (Black Opal metallic)

MY GENTLEMAN'S CARRIAGE
1999 E240 Elegance - no mods, just the way it came from the factory 35,000Kms ago. Although I'm no gentleman, I'm privileged to drive such a carriage.
Anyway, enough of this computer nonesense, I'm off to coffee in the carriage!!

Yes - very smooth vehicle Peter. If you get time, wonder if you might give us a heads up on tail and headlights. Stuff like product quality, fitting, do they perform better than OEM, would you recommend, where from and finally if you dont mind, how much. Suspect others will be interested. Meanwhile keep those beaut wheels roll'n.

Warren

Very kind words. :color: Sorry about delay in my response but sometimes (like most of us) I bite off more than I can chew and get snowed under with heaps of time wasting !!
Now that I'm full of confidence, I might give my lights a touch up and get some UV protection from John. I saw on another string that he replaced a headlight on a Benz with one eye poked out. He worked some magic on the existing one to bring it up to speed with the new one. I'll bet the owner was pleased.

Recent purchase to replace Fraud Falcon wagon, after the poor thing was rear ended and as a result trashed, in wet road conditions.
E240 T 103 000 K's on it at time of purchase, paid $16 700. Good list of kit. So far enjoying it very much. Top quality ride and great to see the silver star on that bonnet whilst cruising along!

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Sold the E270 CDi and just got an E220CDi from Melbourne (I live in Brisbane) much better deals down south.
Car "now runs real well after "dying" 650 km up the road (south of Goulborn) - got trucked to Campbelltown MB and we got a hire car. Thanks to MB Roadside Assist - the towy and MB Campbelltown - we were back on the road in 24 hours with "That injector fix (new injectors - the rail - hoses and ECU plus a new air filter gizmo. Seems the vehicle had not had the injector recall done at delivery ! Great run from Sydney to Brisbane. Had a VICROADS permit and no plates but never got pulled over on the whole trip.

Looks like many years of enjoyment ahead!
I must say that I was not a big fan of the W212 when released (going away from the round headlights) but time has been kind and it now looks rather good.
Not about to jump ship from the 210 yet - too many other projects.....
Cheers

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Very nice! The W212 has some road presence! Saw a wagon in Sydney, that looked awesome! Love the classic "1930's" shaped flare around the rear wheels. Particularly noticeable on the wagon. Yes a move away from the round lights. I don't think the W210 has got the credit it deserves for pioneering the return to round lights, after decades of the big rectangular headlights. I remember in the RSA, the W210 styling caused quite a stir!
Amazed about the fuel injection issues!?? I thought Mercedes thoroughly tested their cars? Another dreaded "Chrysler" cost cutting input?? Possibly a bit unfair on Chrysler, but seems a pity to hear about these issues, after the 1960's MB saloons were called "the best cars in the world" (Bill Boddy, editor of the famous UK "Motorsport" magazine).

Well, since not many people are willing, I'll put our babies up in this thread... they now look a lot more alike as the reason we have them is to carry brides and grooms.

I have bought myself a 2001 W210 E430 Avantgarde.
Obsidian Black, leather seats, sat nav, with AMG undercarriage and spoilers.
I was actually looking for a car for my son (he ended up with the Commodore)
My first Benz and hopefully not my last. It really is a sweet ride.

That sounds like a good move. A W210 is a lot of car for not much money and the E430 has a sweet engine. I bet your son was hoping the E430 was for him.Sky-084 wrote:I have bought myself a 2001 W210 E430 Avantgarde.

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Hi fellow Benzers this is my W211 2004 AMG E55 in Obsidian Black with Black Napier Interior affectionately known as the Black Panther. To help get it her to speed she has a Eurocharged Performance Stage 2 Power Package including Kleeman Headers, Heat Exchanger, Johnson CM30 I/C Pump, 180mm Crank Pulley Kit, Performance Engine Software and Transmission Software. This allows her to leap to 100kph in 3.9 seconds and achieve a flat 12 in the quarter mile. I haven't dyno'd her recently but she has somewhere in the range of 430kw (577hp) and well over 800nm of torque.
I'll be changing the plates soon to something a little more unique. Also considering a new set of rims at some stage and a nose upgrade to the sharp sporty lines of an E63 front would be sweet. At the same time probably changeover to all Xenon lights for the sake of consistency - I don't know why they didn't come stock with the same temp lights in the first place?

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
So after years of driving Mercedes on both sides of my family, whether it be my fathers 190E Sportline, or the father in laws ML500, I could no longer beat them. So I have recently joined them!
Heres a shot my wife took of our twins. I picked up this 01 W210 E430 in brillant silver with only 163000kms and full service history. Even has the old nokia handset in the center console! I took one look over the body, faultless. Went for a drive, effortless. Ten minutes later and it was mine. Other than a good clean and polish, only mods to date are removal of the E430 badging. Windscreen cowl is next to be replaced, then some 18 or 19" Monoblocks (if I can ever find a set!), an updated GPS headunit and maybe an exhaust upgrade down the track.
The other is my wifes shoping trolley! 2011 W212 E250 CDi. Brilliant car. Love the diesel torque feel and economy! Never missed a beat! Now if only I can get her to keep it as clean as mine!!

Wow after 3 days of ownership I am just LOVING this car. Sooooooo much tech and relaxing to drive. Far more nimble than W211. She is a keeper I think.

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
No doubt others have seen the thread where I discuss trying to find the RIGHT new Mercedes-Benz.
Ultimately a new w213 wasn't quite as appealing in the spec we were looking at, when I looked at average depreciation on new Mercs. It's ridiculous really.
We tried 205's, 166's, all manner of CLA's GLA's GLC's GLE's and everything in between - including the wagons. Just nothing there. You can read my bitch about MB suspension on that thread.
After trawling dealer after dealer, I spied this weapon at MB Sydney - mind you we'd been there several times before and the New car salespeople weren't all that endearing.
This time we went downstairs to the huge basement where all the demo / certified cars were. I saw beautiful cars that weren't 50 shades fo trucking grey or silver. Blues, reds, even that wasp-like A45 black n yellow looked nicer. and the big black G63.. ohh I nearly wet myself. I was in heaven.
Tucked away in the corner next to the G was this baby.
Missus sat in it - and that was all it took. after nearly 12 months of searching... we struck gold.
While it wasn't the brand new w213 or the w166 ML we were originally looking at settling on it was way too good to pass on. So now it parked happily beside it's aunties and uncles in the garage.
Pretty impressive piece of kit. and while the 213's interior is sublime, there is nothing wrong with an AMG interior I can assure you.

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Thanks mate :occasion5:
It's a great (and happy) ending to such a long saga, isn't it?
This one has absurdly low low low km on it and full history.
Of course I was more interested in the details but the missus was all superficial.
We did try hard to avoid silver grey and black and white cars, but this time it really was a case of put up or shut up.
The <insert stereotype> colour is actually growing on me. I don't mind it on this body shape, and on the w166 is was better than the selenite/tenorite grey as well.
I keep telling myself it's more Mont Blanc than 'pearl'
It's a very sharp colour in broad daylight. changes a lot depending on the sky's colour.

Though I would upload a pic of my 2008 w211 e280 cdi sport. Have had it for just over 12 months and driven about 15000 km. Repair costs so far $0

Hi Tom - Welcome and good of you to share a pic. I can't see it and I think that is due to being a first time poster. You can imagine what people might post without any controls, so we have a 5 post into approval. So 4 more posts and will be great to see your car. Clearly your not a scammer or anything and i will look out for them and approve asap.

Those W210 wagon's were extremely expensive when new.
Interestingly the same new cost as my 2010 W212 wagon.
Love the wagons
