Post Pictures of your car here!

Don't forget to include details such as year, colour etc.
If your car has a story, for example; how you came across it, - put it in here with the pictures. It's always nice to read someone else's experiences.

If you've done any modifications / improvments, Here's the place to show them off - Post lots of pics!

It's not a bad idea to revisit your post every now and then, to make sure your pictures are still up. We'd also like to encourage those who do post a Project car, and supply us with updates, to come back to your original post and edit it, rather than make a new post each time, by replying. It will help keep all your pictures and progress in one spot!

It also makes your post MUCH easier to view.

If you're unsure on how to upload pictures, go to the posting tutorial on the main board and try the test posting page, Don't forget to sign yourself up for a free account on imageshack / photobucket etc.. if you haven't already.

1979 W116 280SE auto (Euro specs)

Acquired in 2004 from a friend who had to sell the car in a hurry (outrageously good price!). Car was originally sold in Mayfair (London), then privately brought to Oz when five years old.

I have almost its entire history on paper, including the inspections and customs papers for the export/import procedures and many service / maintenance receipts from Swatoch in Alexandria (NSW).

I spent about $2,000 getting him back in best shape (brakes, steering, major tune-up), yet he still owes me under $4,000.

He has 170,000+ miles on the clock. His paint is Midnight Blue / Dunkelblau.

His reliability is legendary, having never yet been undriveable for more than a day on only the one occasion of my first post-purchase clean-up and service.

Makes for a brilliant all-purpose daily driver, on both our "highways" and our local goat tracks.

I call him Boris (da big blue) Benz.

Ok...where do I start, 1st one was Agnes, 73/74 450 SEL, I got her from a dealer that was not clued up on Benzes, he didnt know wether to keep or sell, I made the decision easy for him, I had her for about 5 weeks and sold her the day after boxing day 2003 (from memory) back when they were getting silly money prices.

Earlier this year was the arrial of Bunny from Bundaberg, a 1975 280 SE. Her previous owner wanted her gone, I scored her for a bargain. I later found out that she had done her head gasket and had a water retention problem with her radiator. Very tidy car otherwise, will eventualy source a new engine for her down the track.

Waldo is a 1978 280SEL, bought this one off ebay. The previous owner on it sold for a bargain, as he wanted a ute for work. The alternator was burnt out and the radiator was leaking as well. Poor thing was in a very neglected state when I got him. The interior was a mess, the GT stripes were courtesy of the last owner. So far apart from a big scrub & tub and some fluid changes, she's back to being driveable (waiting to register next year as a classic car).

OK, here we go, my W116 Crayford collection. First up "Smurf" which is a 1976 280SEL with leather, cruise, sunroof and elec windows:

Then I used to own "Kermit" which is now Greese monkeys car and has had a name change to Wasabi (dont think I spelt that correctly), it is a 1975 280SE.

I also have a 1976 450SEL Crayford wagon with only 106000kms on the clock, but suffering from front accident damage that some twit has attemptd (very poorly) to repair

First 6.9, owned late 1993 to late 1994. Turned out to be LHD converted to RHD (except for the windscreen wiper locations).

Here's my girl a 77 450 SEL picked it up very cheaply old bloke didnt want it ..(Hervey Bay) .. needs a lil work not dramatic though
really would love to track her history down .. very minimal rust one 10c piece in the bottom and a bit behind rubbers on front bumper

Needs a good motor over haul and suspension the interior isnt to bad but will slowly replace with time

$$$$$$$$$$$$$ are a factor with 4 kids and 2 grand kids (and SWMBO)

Hi all its Sam Im new to the forum and thought id post a pick of the old girl,ive owned her for 4 years now she was my first car as a P plater and been loving her ever since.
She's a 1975 (hence the plate) 280se. I have been slowly fixing her up over the years and she is nearly all ready for cruising :mrgreen: only need to put my new lowered springs in and white walls, ill post another pick when she is done.

Looks like a lot of photo shop action happening here. Where can we view the real deal and when?

I love the concept but I am not sure of its authentisisity.

Call me a "Doubting Thomas"but can anyone vouch for this car, apart from the owner?

Have you got it registered? It's just that I can't see a Vic. Roads sticker on the screen and what offset are those wheels? Plus what happened to the left hand mirror? It's only shown in one picture and it's not there in the others.

Call me cynical but you've had a lot of work done in a short period of time. Surely a picture of the engine bay is in order.

I not in Melbourne until Australia Day and I'd love to see it in the flesh when I'm there, if that's possible.

Hi Giles,
You are absolutely right about the photoshop concepts which I did early on before starting the project (3 years ago BTW). The seats and woodwork have been done and is now at the upholsterers getting the dash, door panels new carpet and finishing trim done. Both flag mirrors were removed as you would know are originally mounted to the window frame which is no longer there. The motor is as you see but I am now debating between an alleged AMG 380 motor and trans against a 450 motor and trans. So we will see what develops. Next is suspension and final reassembly. I am hoping to have this well under way to being finished by Aus Day.

G'day all,

My name is Robert and I am new to this forum.

This is Bertie my '76 280S. 89,000 miles on the clock.

First regisitered in the UK, and then imported into Australia in 1979.

He needs paint, badly, there are a few rust spots here and there, the passenger electric window works when it feels like it, but he is a great car!

It’s been a few months now, but after lots of polishing, cleaning and servicing here are some shots of my 1976 450SE. Colour is DB623 Light ivory with tan leather interior. Car is original except for a towbar, cd player (although I have a pinstripe becker in the shed for it) and an exhaust that makes the car sound like an angry V8 monster! I’m thinking of calling it the ‘angry taxi’ or the ‘beige monster’…

Taken at the recent Benz club monthly informal cruise up to Talunga Winery just outside Gumeracha.

I’m keeping the chrome wheelarches, they are in good condition and I think they work quite well.

Interior is a little different, before I bought the car, it had a horrible aftermarket steering wheel that looked like it was made out of a wooden toilet seat…

So a W108 steering wheel was installed by the previous owner. I’ve been keeping my eye out for a good W116 steering wheel, but I have to admit the W108 wheel is really starting to grow on me, so I think it will stay.

Will post some engine bay shots once I’ve got in there with the degreaser and polish!

Hi Michel .. no i wont as i live in northern NSW. this car is a sunday cruiser so to speak , however i have been thinking of putting it in the local show and shine in ballina next year... i but i tend to shy away from clubs etc
but i have to say it gets lots of comment thumbs up as cars drive by
its is a beauty and in such good condition all original

Had the old girl since 2000. Put 120000kms on her (now 250000kms) just beautiful everytime I drive her.
