Correct position throttle cable 300e

Good morning,
I am about to replace the throttle cable on my 1989 300e (M103), which is falling apart, but more importantly, routed over top of the engine. While checking this on-line, I come across a few how-to's on RHD cars, but the cable seems to be routed along the fire wall, not over the engine. Or is this different between the M103 and the M104?
Can some one confirm the correct lay-out for me? Thanks and best regards, Erik.
