Brisbane (W111) 220SEb Project

Post by dynamike » Thu 27 Oct, 2016 9:18 am

Hello from Brisbane!

Recently purchased a 1962 W111 220SEb as my very first project. She'd been neglected over the last few years but overall still pretty good shape for her age. The cylinder head was missing so I'm picking up a like-for-like replacement engine next week which will need a decent rebuild as it was sitting in a shed for 20 years.

My mechanical skills are limited to some basic things like replacing a timing belt using the repair manual so I’ll be learning as I’m going. Growing up in Germany gives me the advantage of being able to also read the original manuals. Looking forward to exchanging ideas, getting advice and who knows maybe one day give advice too.

Here’s a photo of the beauty in her current state: Image

As a first step I’ll be looking for parts for the engine rebuild. Any suggestions where to go for all replacement gaskets and seals, water pump and oil pump?

Cheers,

Mike

Welcome to ozbenz!

Contact our forum sponsor, MB spares in Canberra - they can supply all the stuff you need - you'll need to provide the engine number of the new engine though. Not sure if you would need to replace the oil pump though?

Thanks for the welcome! Will look into MBspares. Thought the oil pump was just a standard thing you should always replace?
