Removing backplates of the front seat backrest

Post by einar » Tue 05 Dec, 2017 5:33 am

Yet another issue: I’m planning to fit headrests to the front seats. According to various forums this should be straight forward. However, you need to do rather accurate measurements to fit the rails etc. Anyway, the simplest think should be to get access to the backside of the backrest. As far as I’ve understood the two bottom screws is removed, and then just slide the backplate of the backrest downward and the backplate should be released. Both backplates are still stuck and using reasonable power I’m able to slide it half a mm – not more. As always, I would avoid applying too much force before knowing what I’m doing. Is the anything else holding these backplates in place? w111, limousine, 1964
