Barn Find W112 300se lang

Mercmad recently came across another LWB finnie. Too far gone to restore but...............many useful parts for Konrad, so......snapped it up.

Well i spent the day getting it ready to roll and lifted up .The car ,mechanically doesn't look to bad and I found the reason for it being off the road since 1988. The right rear caliper was in pieces and there is even a new one in the pile of loose bits that came with it. The car as can seen is straight, and there's no evidence of major prangs..The car was also optioned up with central locking, air con, becker (long gone ) and luggage ,also long gone.

PICT6517.JPG
The boot was locked so it was a bit of mystery as to what on earth was in there (central locking had locked) .
PICT6531.JPG
Engine is dusty and grubby but complete but i haven't had a look into it yet.

PICT6524.JPG
In the boot are a pair of Roundie gearboxes ... fat lot of use in a W112015
PICT6561.JPG
The body plate is a bit faded but it's chassis 112015 22 06292
PICT6566.JPG
I lifted it up so the tilt tray can lift it , by jamming bits of wood between the lower arm and the cross member. In the rear a couple of bits of wood between the axle and the rubber snubber held in place with cable ties keep the back up . Lifting it was pretty tricky because of the rust so the towbar was handy.

A trolley load of goodies out of the boot, including the original small hub caps ,5 correct wide W112 13" rims ,(two with oldest tyres i have ever seen on a merc!) .The seller still has more parts to come yet ,but they were on his ute which is in a panel shop somewhere..
Also in the boot was the original wheel spanner (has the hook end for the little hub caps) and the original W112 Lang heavy duty jack and it's handle. This thing could lift a 600 I think.

Looks like a lot of treasure there! Looking at the state of the interior and how badly warped the door cards are I'm guessing the body is too far gone? Brilliant find regardless!

Great find Ron! Thanks for the pics.

Do you think the central locking system is salvageable and could potentially be fitted to a humble 220Sb?

yes it would, it's basically the same as a W109 system with locking boot fuel door etc. Give Ludwig a yell and see if he wants to do a deal on it :glasses2:

I looked at your pictures Ben. Considering oz labour costs and parts costs for these W112 models, that poor old thing has been relegated to a parts car now. I'll give you $1000. Would have been a beautiful car once upon a time.

Hey there Ron,
Might some of the extras not included (exterior chrome trim) be suitable for Konrad.
I paid $3000 for the donor car for Konrad so figure that this might be worth something similar.

did they pay or is it just another case of "tossers" with no money getting their thrills on Ebay. Just like the one Harko bought after his W112 (along with lots of others) wasn't paid for after the sale.
I'd contact the seller in a few days and check it all out again. Or, better still, get someone else to contact them.

The blue one is a $1000 parts car and judging by the big bulldozer battery laying next to it, an attempt to start it was made. Goodbye cylinder liner seals and injection system ..There are plenty of SWB 300SE's about . Robert Nicholson has the nicest one ,all black and original .They are desirable cars but the resto costs are beyond the cars value .
