Hawkie and his Finny

Post by OzBenzHead » Sat 10 Jun, 2017 10:53 am

Bob Hawke appears to have had good taste in cars way back.

Here is a photo of him with his Finny, found on ABC News Online.

Ron: According to the article, it was before he was PM, so probably while he was head of the ACTU.

BTW: I read your recent fuel tank restoration post on Benzkraft.

Are the 108/109 and 111/112 tanks interchangeable?

I have a nicely restored W108 tank (the full POR treatment inside and out) and would like to replace the tank in my 112 coupe.

Will it fit? Are they a direct swap over?

Thanks for that, David. A bit of history, eh!

Rosslyn, at one time during her, er, wayward years, stayed in a house at Tuntable Falls (hippie colony near Nimbin) that I later lived in. Her signature was in the house book.

Yep, the tanks on the 112 are W108 tanks, to cope with the thirst i think :laughing6: :laughing6: .Chris Johnson once told me that in the US owners would swap in W109 6.3 tanks so they could improve the range on a tank. At 120 liters it wouldn't surprise me at all . Your coupe might need a fair bit of attention if you haven't been driving it much lately . I see the prices for them has gone a bit mental lately too. That could well have been Hawkes car I had, there was distinct odour of sulphur every now and then in it
