W108 parts interchangeable?

Post by RickinWA » Wed 03 Jul, 2019 10:15 am

Sorry for the newb question. Going on looks, the grille and headlights on a '67 W108 250SE look to be the same as those on my '61 W111 220SE, or at least they should fit. Before I go looking at the car being parted out could someone please confirm for me? Any other useful parts from a W108 I should look for?
Thanks.
Rick.

I'm not a 111 expert and I am sure Pastelgrey300 will know the answer and will respond. Headlights I reckon are same, grille i reckon might be a bit shorter.

The W108 was the successor to the W111. The floorpan and suspension is the same.

The grilles are different between the 2 models, but the headlights are the same (at least the early 108's)
The heater taps are the same.

Other than that, not many parts are interchangeable.

I have a 1966 W108 as well as a Finnie. Head lights definitely the same. From what I can see the windscreen washer bag/bottle, battery holder, fuse holder and cover, sun visors, steering wheel, interior rear vision mirror, front and rear reading lights, hub caps(two piece) and wheels. Given that both my cars are MFI, I suspect that the fuel injection units could also be swapped. Regards Corrado

Just adding 'for the record' and if others search on this later - I reckon 108 is normally 14" wheels and 111 13". But I think the early 250 had the 2 piece hubcaps and centre cap I think fits but not rim. Later one piece would only fit 14". A lot of those other bits I suspect more in common with a pre early 68 W108 to 111 than to later W108

And considering the MFI:

The 220 SE engines have a 2 piston pump, while the 250/280SE from the W108's have a 6 piston pump.
