BEHR airconditioner

Post by eddie » Wed 15 Nov, 2017 3:34 pm

Hi All

Does anyone know much about these BEHR air conditioners, I've not come across them on the internet before and after finding this photo have scoured the net to find more information? are these particularly rare? what sort of value should they be - I realise that's a tricky one, just wondering if anyone has seen/bought one before.

Am I dreaming about ever finding one?

I like the aesthetic of these compared to the big rectangular ones that I've seen under the dash typically.

those are the exact same unit as the flashier looking ones normally fitted to coupes with just a square box instead of the shaped housing .They are ultra high quality units with a standard of construction not seen anywhere today. Those round vents can be turned to aim the air flow and the slats can be opened or closed. All are chrome plated .The box itself is plastic but the unit is very heavy so they had struts to support the dash crossmember. Cost? expect to pay around $4500 for a unit requiring restoration or $10,000 for a reproduction unit... yes you read that right but i did say these are ultra high quality .

Eddie,
cut the roof off ... cheaper than this aircon. They are rare, Ron's - of course - right. I'm still torn back and forth if I remove the one in my W111 ... in the end when do you need it?

Regards
Thomas

Geezus, $4.5k? Maybe cutting the roof off isn’t a bad idea!!

Maybe I’ll keep looking at the aftermarket world

I've been doing a pair of them here. Both have vintage air heater/aircon units fitted where the original heater was. The heater is OK for tassie or Germany but useless here in Queensland . Theres a company called Cool drive which wholesales vintage air stuff in OZ. Google them because they have lots of different kits you can use to install it yourself.
