W114 Engine swap ideas

Hey all,

Been a while since I posted anything on here and comes with good reason. The twin zenith engine is doing my head in and have been quoted approx $1000 to repair the zeniths to get back to running again. Any ideas on what I should do? So annoyed right now.

If anyone knows anything about the zeniths that would like to look at this car that would be amazing or if anyone has a set of carbies I could fit that would be good too. Obviously I would pay you for your time.

Easiest alternative would be a weber conversion - I've never looked back since fitting webers to my Finnie and putting the zeniths in a box to gather cobwebs!

I suggest you take the car to Olaf At Horst Auto Repairs. I have not used his services, but know those you do and speak very highly of him. I rang him the other day to chat about an auto transmission problem (which he specialises in), and we got around to talking about the 250 motor and the twin zeniths. Like you, I hated them, even after a carby overhaul. But Olaf knows all the stories and the gripes (even the one about the carbs warping because they sit over the exhaust manifold), and says it's all bunkum. He says most carby overhauls are done by those without any real knowledge of the Zeniths. You just have to know how to tune them properly and once they are set, they will run trouble free for years.
