Well I haven't updated this much at all!
I've been collecting parts, which is a necessary part of old car ownership.
The rust bucket I pulled apart, nut and bolt.
Very very little was retained and it's gone to the big scrap heap in the sky.
Gave the engine away on the proviso that it went into something... then a few months later I see it on trademe being sold. super. duper. Apparently they tried. :boohoo:
Sold the 2.5 from the better one, so that was cool.
I'm usually a sucker for just giving things away, brought a leak down tester for peace of mind since I was selling it.
Which indicates that I've been pulling the better one apart.
I now say better because I've discovered that old fords and old merc rust in polar opposite places. haha.
And there has been some HORRIBLE repair attempts. I mean RIVETS and PLATES and lots and lots of BLACK POOS.
Found it has been rear ended and just FILLED WITH BOG instead of pulling the metal back out, so I'm going to learn panel beating now. ha.
On the upside, the doors and front fenders are at the media blasters.
Next Saturday I take the bonnet and boot.
The following the shell.
Door seals/window guides etc all that sort of stuff I'll have to replace as the old ones are buggered.
I see Bart has had experience with a bloke in Turkey with A/M stuff. Doesn't sound like a particularly bad experience so might give it a crack, either that or AutohausAZ since it looks like they have pretty much everything I need.
20m of window channel though, so twice what is required but OEM at a brilliant price, anyone in NZ want some?
Anyone in NZ want to buy some parts at the same time?
After being buggered by my last international purchase I'm gun shy, if Australians could read it'd have gone ok.
If NZ'rs could read it would have gone even better.
In the end I got the TIG I wanted
