Mate asked me to change the battery in his R Class 300cdi.

We had a check around the car to try and locate the battery.

Couldn't find it. Resorted to Youtub.
Battery is under front seat. You need to remove the front seat (electric) and move it out the way, remove some carpet, a plastic cover and then you find the battery.

Instead, he took it to the local stealership to have it changed..........................$1,150.00 :dontknow:
He had the brakes changed while he was there - 4 disks and pads.......................$ 3,000.00 :dontknow:
Stealership did a diagnosis - a fault with the transmission - 2 bearings replaced.......$ 1,500.00 :dontknow:
Car had a general service......................................................................$ 400.00 (cheap)

So you want to buy an R Class :naughty:

Last year an AC pipe cracked - apparently a very common problem with the R Class........$ 1,800.00.

You could run a W123 for 5 years on that kind of money...

We have had a R320CDI for the last 4 years and it is a cheap car to run and awesome long distance cruiser. Brakes front and rear would be around $1000.00 even at our retail prices.... However we have just sinned and brought a Ford Everest to replace it, so it will be on the market soon.
