I am at the point where my 2004 ML500 is starting to get to me.

I just want rid of it, its only done 145600 and for a 13 YEAR OLD CAR THATS PRETTY GOOD.

Seriously if anybody wants it let me know, i am running away from Mercs and going to , dare i say it, a Toyota.

Yes i have some pics.

There really is nothing wrong with the car, its just me and i am the worlds worst mechanic.

I have seen what people are asking for high mileage ones, but i think i will leave it up to the buyer and then we can negotiate.

If you have pics, load them onto a hosting site and provide [img] links to them so we can see the car. Lots of pics, so we can look at it in all its glory.
Merry Christmas

Ok problem 1,
I have no idea what an img thing is.
2, I am almost 70 and i am not real good on the computer.
3, i can send you pictures through email, i at least know how to do that, one at a time.

anything else i can help you with.

I have decided that the Merc thing has left me cold, sure they are good cars and great to drive, but its not like a Ford, Holden or Toyota where any mechanic fix them, its the messing around finding parts and then finding somebody who knows what they are doing.

The last thing is the cost, i have found its costing me too much to run on the aged pension. It was bought because it had 7 seats and i needed that to collect grandkids from school, well i have told to catch the bus.

probably good for you to put this in the for sale forum that you will find near the bottom of the home page - more people will see it. Also there are the selling rules at the top and the main point is to put in your vin number. Thanks and good luck.

Why when you mention a Merc, is the VIN so important, surely a W163 is a W163 every where. How can that number make a difference to what you have. When you contact MB Spares, they wont do anything unless you have the VIN, yet on line it doesnt seem to matter as long as you look at what they selling.

Not my rules but the forums rule on advertising outlined in the for sale thread. Aim I take it is to try and help protect us from the ever increasing crooks out there. For a buyer the vin gives access to a lot of info. Forum owner could write lots of words defending his methods or you could write one number on his forum that he provides to us all for free. Its not mb specific. Sorry if that sounds abrupt but when you donate heaps of time doing your best to help people and not feeling like spending extra time arguing about clear rules. Only reason I take time to respond is I greatly appreciate this forum and my way of helping owner to keep things on track

The reason spare parts ask for vin numbers is there is so many options and upgrades during each year it helps them get the exact part for each individual vehicle. It's a great idea really.

Buying online does not guarantee that you get the correct part (unless you provide the VIN)
MB Spares and other MB parts suppliers are ensuring that the correct part is supplied - FIRST TIME, EVERY TIME.

Ok guys enough please. I am new here and wasnt really offering the car for sale, it was said more out of frustration with problems i seem to be having. Didnt mean to offend anybody so if i did, deal with it.

I have a very old view on the world and my sense of honesty comes from a Yorkshire upbringing where we called a spade a spade, and again no offence to anybody born in spade.

I dont pull any punches, in todays world and i am not going to change, if something needs to be said, its not personal, it has to be said. I am told i am a rascist, a biggot and one of those blokes who makes jokes about homosexuals, im told its not proper. I am not the type of person to suffer fools or people who get a offended over the least silly remark or a joke thats not to their taste, so im sorry if you dont like what i say, but thats just me.

Did you get a good run over Christmas with the car? A 500 has an excellent engine which will run forever given oil changes etc . What lets our cars dwon is the insane amount of wiring everywhere and in the english speaking MB world, little knowledge is out there to sort the various little problems that pop up. BTW dont go Toyota, too many ex mine vehicles on the market these days, all tarted up for sale.

I am having Crank Position Sensor problems. I have asked a dozen times if anybody knows where it is. Being a right hand drive of the USA made car, i dont know if its on the left or right side of the car, do you know.
The other problem i have is, where is the bloody thing. I have the part but bugger knows where to put it. No rude answers pleas, just a little help.

Have you pulled the plastic inner guards out? it's a struggle to get them free after undoing the plastic nuts but they pop strasight out eventually. I have attached a pic of the crank sensor ,it's on the passenger side on the bell housing .

youc can only access that by removing the plastic cover. part number is A0031532728. There is a cam sensor on the right front of the engine A 0041536928.
