Timing chain change

Post by burls » Thu 18 Aug, 2016 9:31 pm

Hi all

Just wondering if it is a difficult task to change the timing chain on a 270, I have done many other brand ones so l have some experience. Also where can I get a workshop manual?

Anybody done one?

Does anyone know if they are a clearance head or do you bend valves if the chain breaks?

It would be unlikely that they would break a chain. How bad is it, just at start up or all the time. My 430 has had noisy chains for years but has never got worse. Different engine I know but I haven't heard of anyone doing chains in a 270. Have you tried a new oil tensioner to see if that helps.
