Post by GrampiansMerc » Tue 28 Jun, 2016 12:49 pm

Hey there

Our local highway patrol are now using a very impressive new Mercedes for their pursuit vehicle.

I saw it in Horsham the other day and it looked impressive.

I have to say, Mercedes did a really good job with the GLE Coupé ... it is definitely as ugly as the BMW X6 :puke:

I second that vote.

When BS marketing and US oriented styling interests hold precedence over manufacturing reliable, tastefully styled european vehicles, it is time to revolt.

This coupe would have been more within their slashed budget range and comes with ABS and disc brakes and active seat-belt arms.
I am sure MB could run off a few retro SEC chassis to meet police force demand for their price range.
They don't chase anymore so its all about the image and comfort which the SEC would easily exceed those specs

Impossible Kim,

how to put a 100kg-suspect with handcuffs into the back? :laughing6:

We had a nice report the other day from Nordrhein-Westfalen; the police there decided (or some bureaucrats did), that the VW Passats (quite large) were replaced with BMW 3series :laughing6: ... they couldn't even sit in the front seats with their guns on the belt and even putting someone handcuffed into the backseats was close to impossible.

Answer of the administration: In Bavaria it works (homeland of BMW).

You just wait for the paddy wagon to haul them away (while you sit in your comfortable SEC!)

Maybe MB spares could bid for the contract to replace the falcon/commodore police cars? $50k would go a long way to building a hot W126! I'd be wetting myself if I saw this coming up in my rear view mirror...
