G-Wagen at Sydney Motor Show

Post by JMKOZ » Fri 27 Aug, 2010 1:32 pm

I have had it confirmed that the Mercedes-Benz stand at the Sydney Motor Show will have a G-Wagen on display. It will be the G55.

The G55 and the G350 Bluetec (463's) will be on sale from January 2011 and the 461's (including the civilian version of the 6x6) will be available sometime later in the year.

The dealers all seem to be living in bliss ignorance of the return of the G-wagen; more interested in turning over W204s and W164s to cashed-up bogans.

I am currently looking at a replacement for my Land Rover and would seriously consider one, even pre-ordering if more information were available.

Let me just say they had better get in before the new Defender is released, because they will do themselves out of a sale.

Pricing for the 463's (G320 Bluetec and the G55 AMG) will be available in October but you might have to wait a bit longer for the 461 pricing.

All I can tell you is that the G55 price will have a 2 at the front of it. Of course the run of the mill Bluetec diesel should be a bit more palatable in terms of pricing.

Thanks JK.

Given the G55 will be in that price range gives me confidence that our earlier estimates of W461s in the 100-150 range seem reasonable.

Although . . . RR Autobiography tops out at just under 200, they might not move very many G55s. The Rangie is a hell of a lot of car.

Did I say NEW, I meant "New to me".

Guess I will have to keep people guessing for a few weeks.

I cant wait to see a G wagen in the flesh. I would love a G55, but unfortunately not this year.
