Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Post Pictures of your car here!
Don't forget to include details such as year, colour etc.
If your car has a story, for example; how you came across it, - put it in here with the pictures. It's always nice to read someone else's experiences.
If you've done any modifications / improvments, Here's the place to show them off - Post lots of pics!
It's not a bad idea to revisit your post every now and then, to make sure your pictures are still up. We'd also like to encourage those who do post a Project car, and supply us with updates, to come back to your original post and edit it, rather than make a new post each time, by replying. It will help keep all your pictures and progress in one spot!
It also makes your post MUCH easier to view.
If you're unsure on how to upload pictures, go to the posting tutorial on the main board and try the test posting page, Don't forget to sign yourself up for a free account on imageshack / photobucket etc.. if you haven't already.
Show us ya Pics! :)

This is our (my wife's an my) 1990 300TE which we have owned since 1998 (was a replacement for our 1980 300TD). This wagon is a real gem being in almost perfect condition and also has some nice options too. Despite being an almost daily driver doing duties including hauling our kids and gear around, this wagon has picked up numerous class wins at NSW and ACT MB concours. Just a superb all round car and something we have no desire to replace in the foreseeable future. I can understand why many argue that the 124 series was among the best MB ever produced.

with thanks to Joe, here is my 1990 300e24.
no special stories with this one. with work looming for the 230, i decided to get another car to drive daily. got together with john green and decided that either a coupe or unusual sedan was what i wanted. although this is no coupe, it has the 24v engine, and a nappa leather interior, which makes it rarer. its a fantastic car to travel in, to tow with and display. john brought it up from sydney to view, the rest is history.

I thought I'd better post some pictures of Gretel, Natalies C124 300CE-24. This is the Replacement car for Schultz, since the untimely demise of his greatness.
This car is a 92 build, first reg'd 93. 121,000km, and spotless. Full stealership service history.

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Finally got around to putting up a photo of mine, a 94 E280, had it for 6 months, my first Benz, got it as a replacement for an AU Fairmont. Only paid $5000 from Fowles auctions, only blemish is a small dint on the bonnet & some stone chips in the paint work on account of it's previous life around Bendigo, will eventually get it sorted. But otherwise has been a good car so far. Suspect this won't be my last Benz ..........

300CE Brabus, not mine but I wish it was.
Just thought I'd share some pics. of a MBCCWA members Brabus 300CE I've seen at a few Club days.
John, if you do bring your AMG over next year it would good to put the two in the same frame.
Enjoy the view.
Regards,
Giles

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Hi all, first post here.
This is my second car and I love it so I thought I might as well add some pics and tell you a bit about my car.
It's a '90 300E in awesome condition. It's a jap import and has been really well looked after, only done 155,000k's. I picked it up for $5300 I think it was a great buy! It's all stock except I think it has wider than standard tyers (has 205's instead of 195's), and it has been fitted with a new MP3 CD player.
Here's the pics:
Cheers,
Nick

G'Day All,
I bought this car last weekend.
Certainly not love at first glance, but within less than a minute or two I was practically captivated.
The colour grew on me, and that was that. The image doesn’t really convey the minky shade of the car – 441 Impala Brown Metallic.
The interior is Brazil Brown, and is in immaculate order with the exception of some bolster wear. It will be an easy fix. All is as new in terms of the remaining trim.
92K Miles, and full history.
Almost everything works, including air-con, a smooth rust-free sunroof, heated seats, dash lights, etc. The only exceptions are the OTG, cabin illumination on driver door opening, driver-side rear windows, and seat belt feed on that side, again.
The car is as dry as a bone, and is rust free. No oil round the engine or underneath, and at tick-over the motor is virtually silent – rock steady. Gear changes virtually imperceptible.
The change in engine note at just under four thousand rpm is almost sensual. You get the feeling it really wants to be involved for you. Much better than 560’s and 600’s I’ve owned.
Incredible feeling. I am very pleased.
Cheers,
Paul

Impala metallic is a lovely colour, one of the best colours MB used. Definitely in my top 5
I've also seen a couple of 107's painted this colour and they are standout. It really is a very classy colour.

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
My 1987 230E :)
her name is Marilyn
Bought her dirt cheap, with a black Sportline interior (seats & trims) and have the original Blue MB Tex seats.
Few little dings, two surface rust spots (spent its life by Glenelg), but for under $2k what can I expect :P
Vacuum central locking repaired, rear brakes and rotors replaced.
A/C works, gear changes are a tad harsh under full acceleration, otherwise it's fine!
Still have to fix/replace the thermostat, possibly fuel injectors (rather high fuel consumption, but nothing major) windscreen washer reservoir pump, maybe some firmer suspension, headlight adjusters, possibly cold start valves and the odometer is stuck at 110k, but this apparently broke a year or so ago, before the car was decommissioned to the backyard. also considering one of those K&N filters but I haven't really read into them so I don't know if they're going to contribute to anything heh.
Since purchasing it I think i've driven it about 2400km, and its not nearly as squeaky as it was on her mainden voyage (which left me stranded due to a still faulty FPR :P)
I love her and her faults, haha
Definitely a more satisfying ride than my Legend, which didn't have nearly as many issues in my two years of ownership.

Ooh, I quite like your TE, Hendrik.
I haven't seen, or noticed many 124 wagons around Adelaide.
I wouldn't mind selling my 124 and buying a 123 300TD, maybe

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Hi All,
Thanks for your comments about the Coupe – Vlad, The Impala – (top of the page). I was a bit sceptical about the colour at first, especially as the slab’s look to be done in Impala as well, rather than the slightly contrasting one – I don’t know what code that is – but it grew on me. I’m happy that someone else likes the look of it too!
Sorry for the delay, been travelling.
Just been given the chance of a mint set of flat-face 15 hole alloys, I'm inclined to take up the offer.
I'll post some fresh images if I put 'em on.
Cheers from Portugal,
Paul

A very nice 124 coupe. Being a 300CE-24 of Series 2, it's interesting to note that it has been upgraded to the "Series 3 look", with the exception of the rear bumper, which has simply been resprayed. To complete the look, you need to replace the rear bumper (and de-badge as there was no 300CE-24 in Series 3) with the Series 3 design, which features a lower rear apron with integrated spolier and bumper insert which extends to the rear wheelarch, rather than stopping in line with the return of the rear light clusters. I like the colour, however, I agree that the bumpers and "Sacco bars" don't look quite the right shade.

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Hi,
Thanks for your comments.
I'd like to change the slab colour, but I'm not sure what paint sat below Impala. If any one knows I'd be obliged.
I don't think that colour ever wrapped a series three either so it'll always be faintly off to the purist I suppose.
I bought four mint 15 hole 7j's on ebay yesterday which held my initial 30 quid bid until the last minute, but nipped up to a still reasonable 160AUD as the hammer went down. I pasted some cut-outs via photo paint to see if they suited, and I'm happy to have them. I can always sell them on, and if I'm happy, I'll sell the 8 holers
I always prefered them, (original spec on this one), but I'm sure some will disagree.
I'll post some images when I get them mounted in real-life.
Cheers,
Paul

I'm not sure if the Series 3 came in Impala, but if Series 2 did, then the colour for the bumper aprons and skirts will be the same (except applied to the entire bumper). In any case, an official publicity shot from M-B for the Series 3 coupe shows it in a colour that could be Impala.isobars wrote:Hi,

As to the wheels, I've got to say that I prefer the 8-hole "Deneb" alloys to the 15 hole ones. Perhaps that is because the 15-hole alloys never graced Series 3 cars in Australia, so to me they look a little out of place on cars with the later look. Not to mention, the 8 holes will be much easier to clean! Still it's a matter of personal taste.
BTW is the car a Sportline edition? I notice it has something that looks like it might be the badge below the side repeater indicators.

http://www.meinbenz.de/
But looking at the spec above, it might have gone to the end of '92.
It's hard to get an accurate colour reproduction sometimes, there are two or three shades on those images of mine, I suppose I scould have used a camera instead of a phone, but I wanted a few images to show my wife when I got back to Portugal. I don't want her to think I spend all my money on grog.
My one reservation on the 15 holers was the fact that the look had been updated. I'll try them on and see before I decide. Maybe I could run one lot on the off side, and one on the near.
I wonder how many people would notice?? It's only like odd socks I suppose, but maybe harder to spot!!
Cheers,
Paul

According to this site, the colour ran (not literally) from 86/91 inclusive.

Cheers,
Paul

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
I prefer the 8 holers as well as they seem to sit onthe car better, but that may be just because thats what we are used to seeing on 124s.

Paul (isobars),
Congratulations on your find of the correct 7" Sportline 15 hole wheels as they can be difficult to find. I like the appearance of the 15 hole Sportline wheels with their deeper styling giving a more muscular appearance, even if they are more difficult to keep clean compared to the 8 holes. As you point out, they are correct for your car, although I guess with the series 3 appearance updates to your car there is a lack of originality there. I noticed the transmission number for yours (722.3) suggests it has the 4 speed auto. All the Aussie delivered 300CE-24 had the 5 speed (722.5) which gave them good performance, but had a reputation for being fragile and expensive to rebuild.

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
Hi Greg,
Yes, a lucky find, and I reckon the right money. I think they're mostly found on 190's, but I'm not certain.
I'm glad there's another 'vote' for them.
I was thinking last night that putting on two at first may not be as daft as it seems - although unless I stay with it, it'll still mean four changes at some stage!
Cheers,
Paul

Re: Star Shots! - Show us your Ride
I've tried to upload a pic but the website says my pic is too many megabytes. Is there a simple way of 'shrinking' the megabytes on my pics or do I need to fiddle with my camera and reduce the megabyte size of the photo??
See you on the dark side of the moon.

You're uploading the photo as an attachment?
You can download FastStone Photo Resizer that will shrink the photo to a reasonable size for posting and is very easy to use.

my new 1986 300E money pit
Glad it came with the later model rims, they look good on this body shape. It's running SUMITOMO SRIXON4 P215/55R16 91H M+S tires. Just replaced the heater tap, the fuel pump and filters are on order. Not much to fix on this car at the moment from what I can see. The sunroof needs repairing as it does not open. It also has a few stone chips and a little paint ware on the rear part of the roof but all in all I'm happy with my new purchase.
