I replaced the Becker radio with a new Pioneer with IPOD connectivety (this is my daily drive), probably a shame becuase the previous owner spent a bit of time and money sourcing the original radio.......
I found a set of 17" 245mm paws on E-Bay of a 2004 E280, with Perilli P-Zeros (95%) all round. Got them on E-Bay for a song !!!
I replaced the front springs with more stiffer Pedders, result is the front end is very stable, and I dont suffer from guard strike on my 245mm tyres. I will definately be replacing the rear springs shortly.
I replaced the front amber indicators with clear ones, I think it makes the whole front look a lot cleaner.
I had the driver's seat bolstered with extra padding as it was a little tired, it worked very well.
Some dingbat ran into the rear of her recently, messed up his VL Commadore pretty bad, I had trouble closing the boot lid for a while but a freiend helped me to panel beat it back so that I can close the boot, that will do untill she goes in to the panel beaters in April (6 week waiting list!!!). The plus side is my rear bumper was looking a bit secong hand and will get a respray!.
Hey guys thought i'd join in.
Name is Aaron from Melbourne.
Bought this beauty in April from Canberra. Had 179,000kms on it. Two owners, impeccably looked after.
Don't know how to post a link so i thought i'd post my album link to my 1991 300e v24, there also is couple photos of my 1990 190e.
My recently purchased '87 230TE. Since ownership she has had a service, a new set of rims and a new exhaust as the cat was collapsed.

The 124 wagons are great cars! We have enjoyed ours for the past 14 years and don't have any plans for getting rid of it any time soon.
Just something I noticed with your 230TE is that it is sitting very high in the tail. Assuming it is still running the original self-levelling rear suspension, I suspect the adjustment of the rod to the level control valve under the rear is incorrect. Having it ride excessivelly high will upset the ride and handling and cause the SLS system to run at unecessarily high pressures. Have a look at a photo of our 300TE which I posted recently at viewtopic.php?f=20&t=16066#p110433 to get an idea of where the rear should be sitting (use the line of the rear bumper relative to the rear wheel as a guide). Admittedly, in that photo it is wearing 16" wheels but the standard 15" wheels have the top of the rim just half an inch lower than that.

Hahahahaha please don't start because I have a few ideas in mind
Once I finish the w201.
Things that come to mind is to kind beef it up a little.
I'm thinking either just a nice easy m117 out of a 560sec or similar or possibly a m119.

"Just a bit of rubbin, Col"
Whilst the wheelarches have already been professionally rolled, they rub further up in the arch. I haven't put the front guard spacers in yet. Once I have it all sorted, and the gaps corrected, I'll be kitting up.
Some discrete panel work required first though. I might be looking for 500e front guards and possibly reshape the rear to match…. maybe. we'll see.

Nice buy! I can (just) understand why we never got the LHD only 500E/E500 in Oz but they could have at least done the 400E/E420 in RHD and sent us that. Imagine if the 4.2 litre W124 was done in RHD how many of them would have ended up with the 5 litre as a DIY 500E. For me, just about the perfect "all-purpose" car would be a 124 wagon with either the 4.2 or 5 litre M119 (400TE/E420T or 500TE/E500T).

Gday, welcome to the forum, nice original looking W124.
I used to have a thistle green W123 and quite like that colour, not too plain and not too exciting and easy to keep clean. Only washed the 123 twice.
So I picked up my second W124 on thursday, Its a 1990 260. I have a couple of questions about some things with he car but ill make a separate thread for that.
Picked this one up today. It had a faulty ignition module, so I took the one off my 300E-24 and plugged it in and away it went. Didn't think it was too bad for $3,250, plus the cost of another module, which will be around $300 from the UK.

It's happened again.....
It's got a few cosmetic issues like scratches and chips, the clear is coming off a couple of wheels and it needs new tyres, but it was delivered by BEA in Adelaide and had every service done on time and documented by the same stealership up until 203k about 2 years ago and then serviced every 5k by a local dealer. (The guy I bought the car from) It's now got just 220k on the clock and drives absolutely beautifully. I know I've already got one of this model, but for the price, I would have been nuts to turn it down.

Lovely looking car in a great colour (Petrol blue/green I guess?), I assume it's around '86 with the more upright aerial too.
Give a prize to the guy in the 3rd row!
Yep. It was delivered in September '86 and it a 300E.
Interesting that you mention the aerial cos I didn't realise there was a difference until this morning and I noticed it was more upright than my '88 model.
And yes, it's blue green. Not a colour I would have chosen but now it's really growing on me.
Plus it makes it easy as we identify our cars by colour. We now have the yellow car, the black car, the white car, the silver car and the green car.

Finally got around to taking some shots of the wagon I've had since August last year. Since acquiring it, i've added the wheels (taken straight from my old 230TE), the smoked indicators, black grille and removed the wheel arch moulds.
It's a July 1990 build, which actually makes it a 1991 model year. Done 220,000kms so far.
Here 'tis when I got it (pictured with the 230TE):

There have been some very nice 124s appearing in recent posts here. I do like the appearance of the updated "series 2" version however that blue-green (Petrol Blue?) in Tony's "series 1" is a great colour. Trent, I would be interested to hear your impressions of the S124 in 300TE vesus 230TE. Whilst I have both M103 and M102 engines, the M103 is in our 300TE whereas the M102s are all in much lighter W201s.

Welcome Marcel,
They are two very nice looking cars. Your 124 coupe is well optioned and includes the rarely seen trip computer. It also appears to have Sportline rims although I can't see any other Sportline features in the photos.

yes the Coupe is fully loaded. It has a sportline chassis including springs etc. The only thing which is missing are the Fendertrimsigns "Sportline" and the Gearshifter with the sign.
This car was bought in 1990 by a Mercedes Emploee and driver for almost a year. In 1991 a old lady bought the car and drove it until october 2013. In december 2013 I bought it because the lady, now 83 years old, could not manage the traffic anymore. The car has a complete history for every day an now 128.000 kilometers on the clock. It´s a perfect car besides my 300 SL I use only in the summertimer.
Best regards
Marcel

I'm pleased that I still have a sufficiently keen eye to pick the Sportline wheels. I looked to see if it had the sports suspension ride height but couldn't be sure and also couldn't be sure if the steering wheel was the smaller sports version. When I couldn't see the Sportline badges on the exterior or gear shifter, I assumed that maybe it wasn't a Sportline and was just fitted with Sportline wheels.
After being impressed by the condition of your 124, I am absolutely amazed at the condition of the engine bay of your 107. That is stunning and looks like new!

Thanks for your comment. In fact you know how a 124 looks like!
Here is the EPC Data Card and the german translation from my Coupe.
The enginebay looks like new, your are right. I bought the 300 SL in 1987 when it was 10 month old with 10.800 km.
I kept the car in the new look over the years. Today I have just past the 40.000 km.
The 300 SL saw only once rain and never a water hose!
Have a nice day
