Hi guys,

the :sign2: from old Germany was asked for some pics of his cars. Here they are for the A124-model...

It´s a car in a very good condition with only 95000 km on the counter. A fine cruiser for :sunny: weather! It has never seen any rain!

Wish you enjoy the pics!

hi guys, im only 20 but have already on my 2nd 300te

my first one was a 1993 300te 2.8- with a swapped 3.2 m104 engine. it was a pearl grey with a grey leather interior. Its now being parted out and im thinking of using the engine in my other 300te

my current 300te is a 1991 built pearl grey with leather interior. 372000 ks and still going strong with that bullet proof m103 motor. I've spent 8 months restoring it to its proper running condition and now sits on 17" c43 amg wheels

theres something about these panzers i love and cant get enough of.

Just got my "new" 1988 300E a roadworthy certificate yesterday - after four weekends of solid work.

See episode 1 here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=22972

Collected the car as a birthday present to myself last December. According to markb it initially wasn't starting/running - the car had been sitting for over 2 years.

I quickly found the issue to be that the A/C relay and Fuel Pump Relay were swapped around the wrong way! by coincidence they appear to have the same form factor and can plug into each other's sockets interchangeably.

After swapping the relays back the car started but was blowing copious amounts of blue smoke. I was suspecting valve stem seals but an oil change rectified the blue smoke problem. Another thing worth mentioned was the cracked exhaust - there was a giant 50 cent-piece sized hole in the resonator. Luckily I could pilfer any part off markb's spare-parts car so an MB OEM exhaust was sourced and fitted (with great difficulty).

Next order of business was a coolant flush - out with the old green stuff and in with the blue stuff along with a new thermostat. I messed this job up by installing the thermostat the wrong way round and overtightening the thermostat housing, causing it to crack :naughty: sorry - m103 noob here. Luckily markb had also provided me with a spare m103 engine so I stole a good thermostat housing off that engine. A transmission service was also performed.

The original bonnet was pretty banged up and unrepairable so I went off to the wreckers to find a good set. I ended up replacing the right fender and bonnet and now the car is in a marvellous bogan-spec two-tone ;) If anyone has got a diamond blue bonnet and fender let me know!
IMG_20170117_204250.jpg
IMG_20170117_204307.jpg
The car went off to the mechanic for a RWC and he found the following things wrong:
Diff mount bushings cracked - see below
Rear subframe mount bushings cracked
Front tyres - thought I'd get away with the current tread
Front sway bar mounts
Front shock absorber dust boots
"Leak" from transmission - this was simply corrected by degreasing the pan which I should have done after the service
IMG_20170115_090528.jpg
The mechanic gave me a healthy quote of $2000 to fix it all - enough to write it off! Unfortunately, the mechanic wasn't going to get any more than the cost of the RWC inspection from me.

Very surprisingly I was able to source all required parts locally and within the country and for a very good price. I love debunking the myth that euro cars have expensive and hard to find parts. By contrast I always buy my Toyota MR2's parts from Japan and USA to save on the exorbitant dealer pricing.

Advised by the mechanic that it would be a 'difficult' job to do the bushes, I set out to prove otherwise. With the required puller tools, the job could not have went more smoothly. In went the new subframe bushings:
IMG_20170114_092129.jpg
The diff bushing job was similarly straightforward but a mishap occurred where the diff swung forward off my floor jack and nearly crushed my middle finger. My take-home for next time is to support the diff using two jacks from both the back and the front.

$400 in parts and tool fees afterwards I saved a good $1600 and learned a bit more about W124s.

Just bought this 1990 300CE-24V from the second owner with a "dead" engine for $750. It's 100% original as bought from the dealer when new. Don't have any paperwork unfortunately stating the AMG options or bonnet fitted though. AMG parts fitted include the bodykit, steering wheel and boot spoiler. Car is currently with the mechanic who informed me that the compression is all good on all 6 cylinders (between 146 and 154psi) and oil pump reading to 3Bar. Engine had a 'major' oil leak when I bought the car and owner was convinced engine needed replacement. Still waiting for an update on the rest of the engine though... wish me luck.

Planning on cleaning up the car once it's running again and fix some small issues like broken hood release near grill and clean up the interior. Then possibly making it my daily once my lease ends on the BMW in the background of the first pic...

Did you buy the car with the body kit or did you have that fitted yourself? It looks great with it on, but must get worried with gutters and speed bumps huh.

Brette 013 thanks man
Body kit is original AMG kit
Also steering wheel and recaro electric seats previous owner stated that the car was ordered like that to be from new and I want to believe that lol,I have original contract when car was sold to him in 98 he paid 51k for it that's with proof,I'm not sure how to check specs from when new but I did find stamps on bumpers rear side which indicates AMG Germany
Also he purchased this car from rick damelian in Sydney according to him he only sells special cars :dontknow:

Picked up this 1994 E280 last Monday night (i.e. not last night).
Not perfect, but it looks pretty awesome! Done about 312,000 kms.

Paint code tells me the car is a Brilliant Silver (744M).
Previous owner had it for several years and got rid of it because they were moving.

Downsides:
- Cruise control not working (solution TBC)
- Blower fan not working (likely the motor - sourcing a new one now)
- Non-original stereo.
- Paint isn't perfect.
- Aerial doesn't go all the way in.
- Rocker cover gasket leak.

Here's the Scabriolet '95 E320.
Came to NZ from Singapore in 2005. Has "Masterpiece" logo in gold on shifter knob and Sportline suspension, steering etc.
Has heated seats - probably not needed in Singapore!
154,000km from new. Now has new wiring harness, head gasket and rebuilt trans (4 spd).
Just need new visor mirrors. Originals have crumbled in the sun.
"Gansta" 19" wheels replaced with 17" Monoblock copies by Mullins
