Part numbers

Post by Daniel33 »

Hi everyone.

Having recently purchased a W124 300D Sedan with a blown motor I am in need of some part numbers to order some replacement bits. Is there a place in the forum where part numbers are listed or is there a library? I need a cylinder liner and possibly some pistons as well as rings and bearings. Haven't yet stripped the head down to check the valves. Can anyone help me out? I can order the parts from a local car stealership but I need the OEM part numbers for their communication with Mercedes Benz. Thanks in advance.

Also been looking up on wickipedia trying to find out some more info. Seems it has a 603 model engine with the #16 mold head. It was running on bio-diesel and burnt through the lining on number 4 cylinder. Any suggestions as to perhaps why would be appreciated as the plan is to continue running it on chip oil.

Umm, I would suggest you try a differant stealership if they have been asking you to look up your own part numbers? That's there job, or at least it was mine when I was in the parts industry.

Yeh, they normally would, except I am working there in the PD department and if I want to get the parts I need at wholesale price, I need to supply part numbers so they don't have to spend much time on the order.

I've found this website pretty useful.
Just put in your VIN & choose lingo at top.
