do I need to reset computer when refitting steering column module?

Hi. Had trouble with steering angle sensor on my CLS. Needs a new one. I put it back together until I could source another unit then refitting the steering column assembly (the module with indicator, horn, angle sensor, etc.). When I reconnected the battery and turned the car back on, nothing works - no horn, indicators, etc. I still get the ESP light as expected, and now the SRS airbag. All this has been connected properly as far as I can determine. Do I need a system reset?
