40 aspect tyres come standard on many cars. Many expensive run flats
The government rules you would think should be altered to reflect this

Although the U.K.'s Daily Telegraph's Honest John mentions the hazard of 18inch wheels with low profile tyres are particularly susceptible to pothole damage.

I have 40 aspect tyres on the W204 C280 I just bought. New continentals.
They'll be coming off next week and sensible 16 inch wheels and 55 aspect tyres going on.

245-35-R19 here mate. Just ordered two at $400 each...!!! I will keep the good one (4,000km) as a spare in the shed.

It's all relative really. Tyres for the W140 were $500.00 each 24 years ago. :whistle:

Two of my 18" wheels on my Golf GTi in Dubai were buckled within 12months of purchase....Middle Eastern roads and crappy Audi A8 replicas... :argue:
