Airflow meter

My R129 keeps blowing air flow meters. I've fitted two 2nd hand ones now and they've both blown the electronics.

I've replaced the main wiring loom and had the throttle body electronics reconditioned as well.

Has anyone else fitted one of these and do they work? Are they more robust than the standard cylindrical BOSCH versions? Are there any others that might be cheaper but good?
