motor and transmission conversion

Post by jaminsa » Sat 21 Aug, 2010 7:09 pm

FINALLY I have tacken a couple of photos with the motor and trans installed, car should have been finished by now but I decided to replace all woodgrain in car as well a some chrome mouldings, painted the underneath, just deciding weather to repaint the car again.

I have fitted a holden 308 v8 blue motor and a trimatic tranmission to my w126 1983 380se, Its almost complete, I would never do it again, however if any one would like any info or to see some pictures please let me no I am more than happy to show what we have done so far. I will post some pictures tyomorrow.
regards james

I'd like to see the pics. I know not all here will approve, but I have always thought a Holden V8 would be more suitable that a Ford or Chevy for these.
A front sump Pan is available from Commodores, the right hand bank is forward to help with clearance to the brake booster, and the starter is on the left side to give room for the steering. Anyone would think they were designed for a right hand drive car :)
If my W108 had a dead 6 cylinder in it, I'd probably do the same. Being a 3.5, I couldn't allow myself to do it.

I was unaware that you could feel whether or not the the mounts are flexible or not from a photo !
