W201 + Turbo Diesel

Post by A_J_T » Fri 30 Sep, 2016 7:12 pm

Hi All, reposting my welcome here and kicking off a build thread.

Sooo! Joined in anticipation of some quality banter and valuable advice.

I've been into My Subaru's and feel like i understand and know them fairly well. However! I know absolutely nothing about Mercedes and would never have imagined myself getting into one and wanting to modify it. But! Recently my Brother has shipped himself home "Home is New Zealand" from Germany and has become an avid Mercedes Man, considering his other love in life is Mitsubishi I’d say he is coming into the light.

Anyway! we have a W201 that has a blown transmission and some ugly 4cyl petrol in it. I have loved Turbo diesels for as long as i can remember but never had the chance to tinker so the idea for this is to track down a manual transmission and a OM60# engine to drop in and make a bit of a drift hack, track day fun car or if i can get it certed ill absolutely daily it.

Does anyone know where to start when looking for a manual transmission and an OM605 or 606? :book:

Cheers!

Aidin

Yep, overseas. and you will pay a pretty penny for them. Because OS they are just as expensive.

in a 201.018 or 201.025 the OM605 will be easier. if you had a 2.6 shell the 606 would be doable but its a real tight squeeze.

Bonus is 605 will make good hp reliably, and if you use a 722.6 auto, You will still be able to manually shift it, using either Ole's standalone controller or the whipplem104 version.

Also the pump can be controlled standalone as well - much less smoke, same power.
