W123 grille & headlight blackout

Post by 3DB » Fri 15 Jul, 2016 6:26 pm

Happy Friday everyone.

I completed my first cosmetic mod to my W123 over a couple of evenings this week. I'm not the first to have done this and I think there are some similar posts on here where others have done something similar to other models.

I felt the standard grey plastic in the grille and inside the headlights was a bit boring, so I pulled them all apart and painted them matt black. 2 coats from a rattle can after a good scrub with sugar soap.

I personally think it looks excellent. Quite subtle, but gives the car a more sinister air. A W123 isn't the toughest looking vehicle on the road, but I think this helps toughen it up a bit.

I've always liked the rounder headlights from the earlier W123 when compared to the post 1980 models that look more square.

What do you think?

Looks good! I think after all the years in the sun the plastic goes light and the originally they were a lot darker or closer to black as well.
