Heating and Air Flow Issues..

Post by Don » Fri 04 Nov, 2016 8:28 pm

I'm tracking down air con/ventilation gremlins in my 190. All searches bring up information relevant to US tempomatic systems but nothing about AUS delivered cars. The US cars have three vacuum elements, one on top of the heater box, one inside (mounted horizontally) and one on the drivers side. Apart from the control valve in the plenum chamber AUS cars have only one mounted in the heater box. My problem is hot air going to the passenger side and only cold blowing drivers side. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have an issue with either the HVAC control panel (heater controls) or the Monovalve/Duovalve (as appropriate for your vehicle), or both.
With one side heating and the other side not, I would disconnect the wiring to the valve and see if the drivers side heats up. If so, then the issue may be in the control panel.

As I am not familiar with your car, I suggest that you wait for others, who have model specific knowledge, to contribute to this discussion.

Tony

Thanks Tony. There is no HVAC as such or duo/mono valve. The temp control dials operate a single vacuum element in the heater box. The right hand side which only blows cold has been blanked off because of a vacuum leak, which caused the engine to not shut down. I went to the local wreckers and disassembled a 190 from dash to heater box to understand how it all works with only one vacuum element. Still having nightmares.
