Help needed W201 Fuel Accumulator

Post by Tassie » Wed 14 Oct, 2015 1:30 pm

Ok so I have bought this nice little ride for my mrs to go to the doctors and back in (she is disabled).

The little car runs great but is almost impossible to start when at operating temperature, after heaps of research Ive narrowed the problem down to the Fuel Accumulator being stuffed, I called the sponsor MB Spares to be told there is not one available new or second hand, I called Mercedes Benz for a price, the nice man told me $660.00 I laughed, Bosch make them, but also have none in stock and have no idea when or if they will have anymore.

Im at a stand still with this car, I can not afford to not have an un-reliable car sitting in my garage, can anyone help me track one down? or is someone interested in buying a 88 W201 for parts.? or is there another part I can use to keep this thing going?

Willing to swap for commodore of similar value. hahah

Cheers

Tony

W201 Bosch accumulator available from Autohaus AZ in the U.S. for USD$105 plus $45 freight. If ordering other parts at the same time, they may be shipped without an increase in freight, depending on total weight. As the U.S. did not have the 2 litre engine, this part is listed for a 2.3. It's most likely to be the same part though.

Before ordering it, there may be a forum member close to your location who has a working spare to lend to you to do a temporary swap to see if it is this part that is the problem. A wrecking yard may also have one cheaply - but you will have no idea if it works. By your forum name "tassie " I assume you are from that state; your profile does not clarify. If you lived in Melbourne you'd be welcome to take the part off the 190E that I have in my back yard - my health at this point makes it impossible for me to get under the car.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the info, I found that part in the U.S a few days ago, think I might buy that one when I am financial enough to do so.
Being a mechanically minded person I put the 190 up on ramps and had a look, what a friggen mess it is under there. I found the return line and clamped it off, the care now starts and runs sweet, hot or not. ive done a few trips into town now (about 15k return) and it has not missed a beat, starts hot or cold.

Im going to be selling this car, so Ill buy the part, fix up the couple of suspension issues and put it on the side of the road for 2k ono. its not a suitable car for me to own.
