W202 1997 transmission in limp mode

Post by johnkearney »

Was getting the odd rough gear change on car with 250000 klms put in a new conductor plate , connector and sonnax valves (with the rubber washers) into valve body (they were quite a tight fit) now its stuck in limp (think 2nd gear), there is no check engine showing .have an obd11 and round plug connector but cant communicate with car. Does the dissconnect/removal mean that there will be codes that need to be cleared also there was one (1) metal flake in the pan (figured that was nothing much in the scheme of things)
Would appreciate any tips on where to start
(Wonder if local racq breakdown man/woman can read and clear the tranny codes on this vehicle)

Requires codes to be cleared to get out of limp home.
The code reader for these old cars is pretty specific. Highly doubtful wether your
Local mechanic or generic racq guy would have the right scanner/ reset
Bet to go to an independent Benz specialist or at least a euro specialist.

The tool to scan and reset older Benz’s was over $600.00 - I didn’t bother buying one. Mine is specific for OBD2 - 2001 onwards for Aussie models
