Help with data card

Post by cpg003 » Mon 04 Jun, 2018 1:36 pm

Hi,
After looking everywhere for the data card in my 79 450SLC I finally stumbled across it when I took the seats out of the car for carpet cleaning. There it was stuck to the side of the passengers side seat rail. I’ve attached a few pics and wonder if someone can help me to clarify the cars origin. From the research I’ve done it seems to have an 873 country code - Saudi Arabia if all places. Now as far as I’m aware you aren’t even allowed to have a RHD vehicle in Saudi Arabia. If I’m correct the VIN indicates it was built as a RHD (edit sorry for the error) and it shows no sign of a conversion. Surely I’m missing something here. Cheers for any help anyone can give.

873 could also be the upholstery code?
873A AMARETTA BRAZIL BROWN

What's the first 8 digits of the vin and the rest of the option codes?

It is an RHD model (see 22 before Fahrgestell-Nr.).
873 is the dealer code.
Could you post full image?

Sorry have the full image in a few photos as i had to get close to it to get the quality. Here is the rest. Thanks for your help so far. Don’t think it’s the interior code as it’s within what I believe is the order number. Interior code is 905 which relates to velour I believe.

The 4 shots attached I think cover the whole sticker.

I would like to suggest a theory as to what is going on there. Hong Kong is dealer code 823, which is almost 873 if you had to many biers for lunch... One of many mistakes I have seen in datacards over the years.

Also it doesn't have code 410 electric sliding roof, most HK delivered cars didn't have a sunroof.

That would make sense John except for the fact it does have the sunroof... very confusing.

Actually John, just looking at the photo again the place where the 410 code would be is the one spot I managed to rip when getting the seat out. That’s assuming I know how to read those things...

Would that explain why it’s not there.
