insurance

Post by oscarricher » Wed 18 Apr, 2018 6:29 pm

hi
Newbie to mercedes.
I have the dealer in melbourne trying to sell me Mercedes Insurance.
"Please remember that if your vehicle is not repaired properly you could void your new car warranty"

Their insurance is quite expensive and high excess. Who do other people use in australia to make sure parts are kosher?

thanks

If you are financing the car through Daimler Benz finance they may insist on their own insurance.

Otherwise it maybe a bit of sales flight of fancy.

It is also against the law to suggest the warranty will be voided if you don't use their insurance company.

Ahh, yes this is the one time where I believe it is possible they can do that. Normally associated with the leases where you have to hand back the car after 3-5 years and you get a set figure for it. Quite obviously they are going to want to look after their interests there.

However, if you are leasing with a balloon payment, or outright ownership, its still :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs:

If you're financing car, make sure your agreed value includes financing costs, especially if it's a novated lease as you're mainly paying principle upfront. Novated leasing companies own insurance is hideously expensive, but does cover you for a total loss (including all interest). In my last year of my lease for 2013 Golf GTI, they quoted $1600, while I increased agreed value and dropped premium to $650 with Shannons.
