Some of the sales managers I dealt with in the past couple of months have either been hit with the stoopid stick or are on job pressure to get cars out the door.

Joe, I've run into the same problem as you - strike up a good repore with the sales guy only to have a sales manager come in and F@ the deal up.

One idiot.
Car sales, Car Point and Car's Guide are the same company.
One car for sale at the same stealer had a $2000.00 difference on it between Car Sales and Cars Guide.
I pointed the discrepancy out with the sales guy. He went and pointed it out to the sales manager. The sales manager stormed out of his office and confronted me - "your'e not having that car for that bloody price" :dontknow:
None the less that car is still for sale. Long after I'd gone.

However on the other side of the coin.
I looked at a W211 E500 at a wholesaler in Brisbane.
The owner is a Benz Fan. We had a long talk about this and that.
The E500 has very low K's for a good price.........But very dark tinted windows and extra wide 18 inch wheels. (Warning Will Robinson)
I pointed out the hesitation over those wheels and windows. He agreed. Even he was dubious.
It's probably a good car .......but not for me.

Never ceases to amazeballs me how FULL OF faeces Mercedes-Benz sales staff ..

Now that I know this guy is talking faeces, because I've already had a PPI done on the car - and yet still I get the full lather of BS treatment..... is a complete F.W.

And if you happen to be a member on here Mr 'Sales manager", take it as gospel, you're a full of bullshit know-nothing when it comes to dealing with potential customers and your techique / tactics / attitude have only served to terminate any potential dealing with your dealer franchise, for the entire future... and I get to meet your bosses boss in the next couple of weeks :thefinger: , I'll be sure to tell him what a doozey you are.

:occasion5:
The sad conclusion is that he must be there and acting that way because (a) he gets away with it, or (b) it works.
Which must say alot about the type of customer they usually have, or that most customers put up with it because they really really want the car (!)

The typical Benz customer nowadays must be a different breed than generations past. (A new CLA AMG pulled out in front of me, full-tattooed arm hanging down outside the door. Then does a U-turn.... the position he was in initially and suddenness of each manoeuvre made me think he was not wanting to go in my direction in the first place, but had to get noticed. Either I'm getting old or Benz customers have changed. And for clarity, I'm not prejudiced against tattoos.

So His new approach to the next customer will be.
Some MB enthusiast came in and had an independent PPI done on this car and it passed with flying colours. Unfortunately that guy couldn't come up with the required cash - but the car has been vetted - so now it's a great deal for you - the next customer

Heh heh,
But only a dope would fall for that one Les - You'd have a good laugh at the exact dialogue I had with this twit.

Fair to say, the deal could have been done, but the sales manager blew it for the staffer - The car's been sitting on their lot since december last year - so I couldn't give a flying f - about playing games, if they want to hold out.... then it's only going to hurt their butthole when the dealer principal sends a few pineapples their way because it's still sitting ther 12 months later.

And there's their problem and should be our gain.

There's lots of cars on lots that have set there for yonks and yonks.

The Sales Managers should be more concerned with getting old stock off their forecourts then Fying around.

I just put it down to another case of old fart observation. that is

Nailed it. I'm no old fart - but I don't suffer fools and my tolerance for BS is about as low as it gets.

Missus is trying to get me to travel interstate (vic) to look at an E300 and an ML.
unsure why, as there are plenty in NSW.

I'm just going to keep looking and pick the nice ones out. I'm a believer in good things coming to those who wait.

There's a well known used prestige dealer in Melbourne, it's common to see cars sit in the showroom/advertised online for over 12 months. I don't understand their business model. I'm guessing they can afford to wait for some sucker to pay sticker price, even if the period is 12 months.

Do you mean the north Melbourne man or the other guy who got roughed up by bikies last year?
Whichever, your statement is still true.

I went to the North Melbourne man one time. He was selling second hand cars for more than the stealership new price for some models.
