Some recent posts about big $$ for SL's but that looks more like a parts car!

Not sure it's appropriate for this thread, hard to believe a 65 model only has 32000miles on odometer

Thoughts?

There are often claims like that and you look at the shape of the front seat, for example, and you instantly know it can't be true. But this actually looks pretty good. Good quality but at 132,000 miles I'm not sure if it would look that good. Boot has that unused look to, although a few bumps along the edge, but that is pretty easy to happen over a few years of use. The low mileage cars i have had usually have a story like they have been used like a normal new car and then somebody dies, goes away etc and then it is locked in a garage. So does the wear on that look like you would expect after a few years of use.... I reckon it could be. The only bit that bothered me is that when you look at the closeups of the ID plates etc, it looks to me like they could have been masked and the car resprayed around it. That's not so bad but it means it is not original paint and you have to wonder how well it was done.

Still, SA car and 2017 concourse winner and its a finnie..... David Knight must know all the answers!

And price..... If its as appears you could spend that money on most other finnies and not make them look that good - just depends if you want one that looks that good.

Agree with Craig's last comment.

Here are some overseas cars and prices, so that price for an original would be reasonable.

Some tempters there, eh?

Overseas prices are getting out of hand.
I see that humble early W123 older engined 230 and 250 carburetor models are bring US$10K in some markets.
You would be lucky to sell one here.

Does this guy know something we don't?

Don't get me wrong, I love my 71 250 in very similar condition to this one and would love a mint for it, but the asking price here is impressive :laughing6:

I think they added an extra zero to the figure for shits n giggles.

I reckon $499 is probably 400 bucks too much. :laughing6: :smilebox: :laughing5: :laughing5: :laughing5: :laughing5:

As opposed to old Renaults, which require sandals AND hiking socks.

It IS good, isn't it, but I can't take credit for it. Can't recall who to give credit to, but it was in a Wheels Magazine test of the Renault 21 iirc.

Another gem from that test: the brakes are so dead it's like stepping on Charles de Gaul

:happy3:

I.M.H.O.

it's scrap value.

Who would want to buy it?
Some one looking for a unknown quality chev motor?
Some one looking for a clapped out SLC body?

It would cost more for the engineers document than the car is worth.

"selling due to family issue". - i.e. his family has disowned him.

Someone please buy it and enter it in the ACT concours.

Alas Thomas, the reserve is not yet met. I will have to pray more fervently. We need at least two bidders - although anyone willing to buy that car would probably also be willing to bid against themselves.

That photo of the ground is a bit confusing. Perhaps it shows that there are no oil leaks.

Surely that should be $340.00 - missing a dot in the price

Comments, feedback on this 1967 230S?

Apparently there's a bit of rust in the boot.

"About 95% rust free". - so it is 5% rust? He isn't asking much, but it does need a respray and a bit of panel work, so $$$ to spend.

So when we were selling them for $17.50 they were a bargain... (and yes they are still available.)
