Rare Vehicle? Low km's?? hmm, he is dreaming.

And a seller with a negative feedback score?

He's not just dreaming, he's missing some brain cells.

I has to laugh with his "Previously one owner" tag.

Shouldn't that be one previous owner, or is there a long list of owners since it was a one owner.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/most-popular-Mer ... 35afc647a9
take that you SL driving people, nobody likes your cars, everybody loves the 86 420SEL
And like WOW both the beemer and Benz have the same engine or does the seller only have one engine for both and whichever one sells will get the engine?

If you are going to use the word 'vehicle' as every second word in your listing, learn to spell it!

Although I don't think $11k is overpriced for an SLC, for one that is unregistered, and not enough decent photos, I think it is.

What is with the ashtrays in the front doors? Is that an option? A Singapore car thing? I mean, how many ashtrays do you need in in the front?

Some big truckin mags included (on a W123 diesel?) rear window winders are an optional extra.....

Don't forget the independent front suspension, very rare and you'll need it with those kidney bruiser wheels.

when will 'back yard traders' learn not to take photos which show exactly what they are??? :boxing:

ie. 3 or 4 cars, a car trailer etc...
now if you took a pic. of the SLC out the front of the said house, with nice mown nature-strip, who'd have KNOWN ??? :dontknow:

He's not selling cars, they are 'vehicals'.
And, note, he is in a place called Deception Bay....which might put some off.
However, he does invite offers, and if anyone is looking for a rust-free SLC
(if indeed it is) it might be worth going in with a cheeky offer.
As the seller states it is a waste leaving it sitting around so he may get desparate.

This guy is not so much dreaming as in the optimistic category.

It is a one owner car with full history.

That one isn't as bad as some of the others on here, very unusual to find post 1990 diesels with such high equipment levels and low kms - if it has the kms and service history the owner claims and is truly in immaculate condition, it would be a very good buy - but I think the seller will struggle to get over $10k for it IMHO.

Speaking of million dollar Merc's, I read in the paper the other day that they did not sell one Maybach in 2010 but Rolls Royce sales where up 300% to (I think) 6 cars.

I think that grand sum of 7 was local 2010 sales of RR's as of sept 2010.

Here's the figures for the Roller, announced @ Goodwood on Jan 10...

Rolls Royce Motor Cars
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has today revealed record sales results for 2010, with 2,711 cars sold during the year. This was a 171 per cent increase on the 2009 total of 1,002 cars and more than double the previous company record of 1,212 cars set in 2008.
Can't seem to locate any specific WW figures for Maybach. There are US figures, but these don't reflect WW sales. Would really like to know what they are though. I think the figure of 1 is probably accurate for AU sales though...

Not sure if this is a save me or a wishful thinking.
Those rims are hideous and the clutter on the console is just frightening.

Now we don't get a whole lot of MB items over here in WA for some reason, but that's no excuse for a $12k opening offer to bid on this.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Mercedes-benz-30 ... 4aa8de42dd

Hey it looks OK, one owner, always garaged apart from the 160,000kms it's done outside of it. Really,it's a tad high for openers.

Hmm, anyone want to make a bid and see if it reaches reserve? I didn't think so.

Yeah but those super sexy wheels really do make it stand out from the crowd.
Anyway I guess that is a mistake a lot of ebayers do, set a high starting price instead of a low starting price and a reserve set at what you would like to get for the car.
The way it stands at the moment the seller won't get a bid and then re-list with a lower price, at least with a low starting price you get some idea of what the market is willing to pay and then you figure out if you are likely to get more money for it elsewhere.
BTW I don't see that a reserve is set on this auction?

Those are standard plastic 126 hubcaps.

There's one in Melbourne in similar condition with even less K's on the clock. It's been on the market for over a year. Seller started off with $9K on it. He's down to $5 K now and open to offers.

Yeah, you'd think for the money MB wanted for a 126, they'd at least put some mags on all of them, I know some of the 201's and 124's got steel rims with plastic hubcaps but can't remember seeing them on the 126.

There's a 1989 W124 in Chermside that was asking $2800 back in January that's now going at $1650, I looked at it but didn't bother taking it for a drive at the price he was asking back then. The exhaust is leaking along it's entire length and is held up with cable ties, it blew smoke when I blipped the throttle and smoked a little during idle, there is massive cracking across the rear windscreen and the leather is in poor condition. He says the electrics work but the drivers rear window did not work when I checked it out either.
The Ad also stated it just ran out of rego. It actually expired in November last year.

Lots of these were delivered new with plASTIC HUBCAPS, BUT OVER THE YEARS SUBSEQUENT OWNERS HAVE FITTED ALLOYS (oops), as for reaching reserve I couldn't see the "reserve not met" icon so suspect that $12k is the reserve.

Most of the W126's in fact came with plastic. They are a P.I.T.A. easy to scuff and scratch and once damaged look like crap.
Series I's got optional Bundts. Only a couple of W126's in our fleet of W126 chauffeured cars had bundts.
Series II's got optional 15 hole alloys. We referred to them as 560 wheels - as they came standard on that model.

A contact at one of the Melbourne stealerships managed to get a cheap supply of W126 15 hole alloys. Most of the owner drivers changed over their steel wheels with those.

F.W.I.W the guys who had bundts reckoned they were a P.I.T.A. to clean and also changed to 15 hole alloys.

What is with these guys??

Asking that much, and not a single photo under the bonnet. It looks like it hasn't even been detailed, paint looks like it needs a good clay-bar, polish and wax, and the carpets look filthy.

They write more in their add about their stealership than the car, and describe with such wonderful phrases like "drives like it should" "not rusty" and "above average".

For those sort of dollars I'd want it to be "perfect", "mint" or "Concours condition".

I think I'll pass.

As for condition, that is almost exactly the same milage as my 84 230E and from those shots is no where near the same condition.

And a 280SLC on there somewhere for resto, or more likely parts at $2,400 at;

Buy the bonnet and get the rest of the car thrown in at $100 less.
