In Europe, Mercs with a Zender kit go for less than stock standard cars on the 2nd hand market.

He wants how much for it? :wall:

Seller wants 17K, in Germany I think seller would struggle to get 1500 Euro. Germans would call it a "Bastelbude".

Yeah Thomas, that word came to mind.

Here in 'Straya' we call it "Fugly", which is short for F*ckin' Ugly :laughing6:

What have they done under the bonnet? It looks like the shock tower is in original body colour and then between that and the new black looks like high build primer or something? Too hard I guess and hence the discounted price! Or is it artistic flair that I wouldn't understand perhaps. Top marks for honesty though in showing it and not just close bonnet shots.

What's the seller on, as it's only a 3.5 and is LHD?

BTW, 420SEL has dropped from $127K to $119K, making it now a bargain https://www.carsales.com.au/private/det ... 6207/?Cr=4

Most people drop their sell price over time, but this chap has done the opposite and increased it from $127K to $137,500, even though its been listed for months.

Price wise I think this is realistic, but drivers seat wear looks to be more than 35k miles.

If the German consulate in Hong Kong had a 150kg driver employed :laughing6: ... as I lived in Hong Kong ... 35,000 miles in that traffic equals (please enter a 6-digit-number) kms in Germany or Australia. My Japanese donor car (500SL) was supposed to have 127,000kms on the clock and the motor was history :banghead:

I've had a lot of issues getting my ex-Japan W124 300e with Queensland registration registered in NSW.
The Qld compliance plate (blue, just like the above ex-Hong Kong car) is not acceptable in NSW, so I had to get an engineering certificate, then a blue slip (road worthy inspection) and could then proceed with the regular registration process.
The engineering certificate is part of the NSW rego, so needs to be with the car at all times.
The process took quite some time and money, so make sure to take that into consideration when you buy a car from interstate which does not have an ADR compliance plate.
Cheers, Erik

Pagodas are getting that sort of money and this one is newer and its even been 'improved'!

Seriously though, 107 are great cars, Iconic of their time, convertible and surely a lot of them for sale now you would think will never be cheaper and have potential to greatly improve in value. The Pagoda will always have an edge based on production numbers you would think and has some special features I don't need to go into, but its surprising how many people say to me their favourite Mercedes is the r107....... if they all decide to buy one the demand will go up.

Still, the price would seem to be somewhat out of step!

The first picture looks terrible and most of the others are so low res, could be seen well on an old EGA monitor.

Looks like he's re-used old Carsales photos, as the Carsales name is both written vertically and horizontally.

Think we have a new leader, found this on FB Market place

Unfinished Mercedes AMG C63 project

Look, I totally get it. You're after a mint XY GT, but you've only got the budget for an AU Falcon. One with 420,000 on the clock and a click in the top end. Hell, people are even asking megabucks for a fake GT, so you'll be saving for decades. You'll probably die first.
My advice? Forget saving up for a tarted-up ex taxi with GT plates. Instead, my friend, go Euro.
Here's your chance to join that exclusive club. No, it's not an original C63, but it was built in the same factory a few years earlier. The bones are there - it's got a Mercedes bonnet emblem, plus something a fake GT will never have -- class. If you crank up the aircon (you'll need to have it re-gassed first) you can smell the luxury.Power? With 110kW of tyre-shredding teutonic goodness, you'll never be laughed at again. Battery? Yes, it's new. Tyres? Four of them, and they're new as well.

Some of the hard work needs to be finished, like sourcing a twin-turbo V8. There's already an airbag fitted, so that's sorted.
It hurts to move this on, but the landlord wants to mow the lawn underneath it. So now's your chance to lord it up over your Commodore-driving neighbours. No stupid offers, and no joyrides. I'll consider cash offers, or a trade for a tinnie with a registered trailer, and around $30,000 cash my way. Negotiable of course.

at first I thought this was a zero thing but then I think i know where the guy is coming from. The car is worth stuff all and he doesn't know how much to put on it - !k but then maybe i can get more, 2k or 3k will that scare a buyer from making an offer - I know, write something funny and put a stupid price, draw attention etc. - you got to admit its a little bit funny and creative!

Is he dreaming?

But, its only done 29,533 miles and has leather seats...

Mind you it does look like quite an original car. Engine bay shots would be nice.

I happened to peruse the Just Cars and Unique car ads a few days ago - particularly the Mercedes for sale sections.
There are a whole host of cars in the “Tell him he’s dreaming” catergry on those sites. Perhaps our Gumtree seller segued his valuation from either of those two sites. :happy1:
W211 - E240
W204 - C280
Departed
W202 - C200, C180, C180
W126 - 380SE , 380SE (Ex SA Import), 560SEL
W124 - 300e, 260e (ex Japan)
W111 220s (Indonesia) 4 speed manual column shift
W123 230
W116 450SEL
W140 420SEL
W210 E240, E240

Yes, the locality is a giveaway. :happy3:

Well, victory is for the brave and bold....

Years ago when in Darwin at the MVEC there was a member who was selling a Citroen SM with a rotten engine that barely ran, and many more mistakes.

He put it up for sale as a pristine car with a rebuilt engine. I told he was nuts and would end up in a ditch or in jail, and our friendship was over as far as I was concerned.
Not sure if he ever sold it...

He is now in Perth
1963 220 Sb Sedan "Kermit" (Australian Assembly)
1960 220 Sb Sedan "Zum Schlachten" (Early German Assembly, with a torsion bar spring for the bonnet) - Stored in Country WA
1981 Subaru Brumby 1.8 with Weber and 5-speed box "little utie" - Sold to another enthusiast!
2006 Ford Focus "daily driver"
2002 VW Passat V6 30V Station Wagon (SOLD - This car into a money pit)
2011 Kia Sportage "Missus commuter Bus"
2002 Mitsubishi Rosa Bus (converting it to a motor home)

I.M.H.O.

it's scrap value.

Who would want to buy it?
Some one looking for a unknown quality chev motor?
Some one looking for a clapped out SLC body?

It would cost more for the engineers document than the car is worth.

it would be purchased for the vin numbers and placed upon a replica or something dodgy like that.

Possibly, but since just about every 107 being sold for this kind of $ has rust issues, the chances of wanting a VIN for repurposing is a bit of a moot point, unless the vehicle is stolen. Problem with that, is that MB have hidden VIN's on the vehicle, so it's easy enough to see the falsified data.
and the fact the "obvious" VIN is on the radiator support next tot he tags, it's also really obvious if it has been tampered with - even if a "good fake" has been created.

There are very rare instances where the radiator support panel has been replaced, and that's easy to know - no VIN.

I've always thought there must be VINs somewhere else on the vehicle but never known where they are. !08/113 have it stamped in the chassis leg but particularly 107, just that radiator support panel is all i have found and have a stripped shell here. Do you know of any locations Joe?

People are just silly, you could get a brand new set of genuine 15"x 7" bundts for not much more, and they look a damn sight better.

Are these Bundts you refer to cast alloy & not made in China?

Depends on supply sets the market price. These people are not silly, they have the funds and know that they’ll be a return on investment should they ever wish to sell.

These Ronal Penta’s were 16x8 and quite rare.

Each to there own & they were surplus to my requirements.
