M112 p0106 any ideas ?

All the hoses look ok and i dont want to just throw parts at it i.e the map sensor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The car is throwing a check engine light but it doesnt seem to be affecting the engine in any noticable way anyway. I can clear the code and it will stay off for a little while and then come back.

Before doing anything, check the battery for age, dirty connections, charging , voltage and load condition. Just because a car starts doesn't mean the battery has 12.75 - 13 volts.

I don't know why but no car I have ever had has had that kind of battery voltage, the max i pretty much get in all my cars including ones with brand new batteries is 12.4V.

I've just charged the battery so I don't think it's that. The issue has popped up after doing the water pump so I'm thinking most likely their is an issue with the vacuum hose attached to the back of the sensor, will inspect on the the weekend.

Hose at the back of the sensor had come off. Re-attached it and cleared the check engine light, hopefully it will stay off.

IF that is the case, your measuring instrument (Voltmeter / Multimeter) is likely to be faulty. Car alternators charge at up to 14V. Normal running voltage after the battery has been recharged is 13.6V (float voltage). Any lower than 12V or higher than 13.8V, for extended periods, will cause rapid battery failure, especially for AGM batteries.

Don't know what to tell you, car not running voltage between 12.4 to 12.6 depending on vehicle, car running 13.4-14.00 depending on car I tested, it's quite possible that the meter itself isn't that accurate.

My mistake, I assumed that your voltages were measured with the engine running, not the engine off. Perhaps I should have read the post better. At least my reply did state the Alternator voltages (ie. with engine running).
Your measured voltages (engine off and on) are normal.

Some m112 equipped cars have two batteries, One is a gel battery under the rear seat . You're mist fortunate in having n easy fix but your battery should still show more than 12 volts while running the engine. 12 volt batterys have 2.5 volts per cell with 6 cells.

I think theres some confusion here. While running the engine its a lot higher than 12. Cant remeber what but it was over 13.5.

The only way to test a battery is with a load tester. - Cheap to buy on Sleezeebay.
I have a battery which shows 12.7 volts at rest - but put the load tester on it and it sinks to 10 volts instantly.
Another batter shows 12.35 volts but the load tester shows that this is good.

With the engine running a multi-meter should read 13.4 volts plus over the battery - alternator voltage.

New charged batteries should have at least 12.7 volts at rest and should stay at +12 volts on the load tester.
batteries with 12.4 volts bought at the dealer mean that these have sat somewhere for too long before being sold.
P0106 relates to the MAP sensor, which reads manifold absolute pressure.
On your engine it's a little sensor mounted on the front of the engine off a little bracket, relatively close to the idler pulley. There is a vacuum line on it and an electrical connection and those can fall off, which will trigger the code.
