Some childhood memories surround the Ponton of my great uncle , a Jesuit priest who clocked up around 1/4 million miles around Europe in this car he bought new in England.
In '73 on my first trip back to blighty , I had one scary ride in the back seat , driven at high speed down perilously narrow English country lanes.
He did all his own maintenance; he was an intensely practical & smart chap as I recall.
A couple of years ago my cousin sent me scans of slides my godfather made in 1967. He used to make slides , not photos , and of course colour was a bonus back then.
The pics are of a trip to France and Spain , evidently a holy pilgrimage tour with my grandmother and great aunt. They look like they thoroughly enjoyed it , as you would.
The DVLA last records the 220S as being registered in 1988. Likely it was scrapped, but you never know...The car was described as "green" ; I guess a bluey-green.

His sisters not impressed at his setting fire to the countryside..
Cheers, Paul
