Star Shots - Show us your Ride

Post by AMG » Mon 05 Mar, 2007 10:48 am

Post Pictures of your car here!

Don't forget to include details such as year, colour etc.
If your car has a story, for example; how you came across it, - put it in here with the pictures. It's always nice to read someone else's experiences.

If you've done any modifications / improvments, Here's the place to show them off - Post lots of pics!

It's not a bad idea to revisit your post every now and then, to make sure your pictures are still up. We'd also like to encourage those who do post a Project car, and supply us with updates, to come back to your original post and edit it, rather than make a new post each time, by replying. It will help keep all your pictures and progress in one spot!

It also makes your post MUCH easier to view.

If you're unsure on how to upload pictures, go to the posting tutorial on the main board and try the test posting page, Don't forget to sign yourself up for a free account on imageshack / photobucket etc.. if you haven't already.

Show us ya Pics! :)

Another "I shouldn't have sold it" car. Purchased from the estate of the second owner who lived in Tumbarumba NSW. Beautiful car, now with a collector in Northern NSW.

Ross,

Nice choice of cars! Reminds me of our wedding where we had a pair of 600 wedding cars. My wife was a Brisbane girl and part of a family who were Queensland MB club members. One 600 was owned by the Club's president at the time and we found the other at a Brisbane hire car company. In case you are wondering, my wife and I met at a MB Clubs of Australia National Rally (in Sydney and Canberra) so the pair of 600s was an appropriate choice of cars. I am also pleased to be able to say that the 600s did not let us down, unlike the Rolls supplied by the reception centre which was to take us to our hotel. It unfortunately "failed to proceed".

I actually agree with you. The 600 grosser reminds me of a funeral specially if it is black. But this one is giving the rich look. I only do not like the red interior. It looks a little evil.

One of the 600s was dark blue, the other black  . Gee, I hope it didn't look like a funeral :( . Hopefully the wedding ribbons and beaming bride made it obvious that it was a wedding :D .

John,

Did your black 300 sell to Robert from Kyogle?? (he has some great cars in his collection and I heard on the grapevine the other day that he had bought a 300)

Cheers

Look at the difference between a 300 like this example and a 300 nowadays ...

One is built to precision by professional coachbuilders, who had a feel for design. The were passionate dedicated professionals who knew and understood style and coherence. Look at that solid briarwood with it's one-piece dashtop the fit finish and quality of wood, chrome and red leather. mmmmm

The other is Designed by professionals who have not much other than a degree in design. The rest of the process is taken out of their hands, by ergonomic engineers, materials specialists, and other associated specialists whose sum does not equate to something greater than the whole.

I love new Mercedes cars too, but they don't have the quality or character of a car hand-built by perfectionists.

Here's a few photos of mine. It's a 1955 300b and the restoration was completed in 2006. Still some small details to attend to, such as the carpet edging etc. (Front left indicator lens has been done ! ).

A few more. The one that looks like a wreck was part way through the resto. The crystal block I had made up and was made from an actual photo of the car, and has the chassis, production date/year, model and rego number on it, so it will go with the car if I ever sell it.
