300d injection blues

Post by Blackted » Tue 07 Mar, 2017 8:38 pm

Has any one got any information on 300d W189 injection pump. The oil level keeps depleting within 40 km the injection pump sump is empty and then has a mixture breakdown (lean mixture). I suspect the leather diaphragm is past its us by date.

Update..I have removed the injection pump and inspect the leather diaphragm and it is old but not leaking.
Front cover seal looks to be in good order as well.

Ok have worked out the oil usage problem on the injection pump.
The fuel lift pump that is attached on the side of the injection pump has turned into a vacuum pump, due to old age and internal wear.
Good news is there is one available.
Bad news its $2000.00 ex Germany.

Surely you can overhaul that pump.
Replacement valves and possibly a seal should do the trick.

Yes possibly it could be repaired , it is an interference plunger type pump.
I have had it a part and will try and get an internal seal grove or so machined and will use as spare if repairable.
Had to manufacture holding pins etc to reassemble. Fiddly little thing.
New one is on its way.
