Help buying right starter motor for W168 please Pics attache

Hi guys,

I have taken my merecedes A190 2000 manual model to the mechanic after it would not start. After taking out the starter motor he has said some of the wiring had come apart that was attached to the starter motor (somehow the wires were damaged from stuff coming up from the road underneath the car, can't be good, I thought their would have been protection for that built in..?).

It costs $400 in labour just for the mechanic to get the starter motor out, so I figured best to get it replaced just incase it was not only the wiring that was the problem.

But then I read that you have to be careful that you buy the right starter as they have different makes, one seller told me mine had the "start stop function", and he needed to order it seperately therefore.

So to the point now.. there are a lot of different manufactores making starters that should be compatible with my car, and there there a few variants of the types of starters as well. I want to know what requirements the starter motor that I am going to buy needs to have please? Different makes have different numbers on them, but some of those would be specific to the manufactorer make, not the item itself. There should be some kind of identifying number that specifies the part it needs to be and that should be made available on all manufactores that make the part if I am not mistaken.

Is someone able to please look at the pictures and tell me exactly what it is I need to be looking for when buying the part - which parts that I must get correct? thank you. After doing quite a bit of research I still have not found this information.

I'm not that smart, but if you post your VIN number some guys here can tell exactly what you need.
