Ooooh lots of nice goodies there, although an 71 560SEL is a typo me thinks, well there are few typos.

Nice one. There is a restored 170 Diesel for sale at Alex Holland - I think it might have been for sale by MB spares at one stage - if that is the same car then it has been on the market for a loong time.

One of our club members has a fully restored 170SD but he reckons it is not very pleasant to drive - even though he had the engine fully rebuilt and balanced and everthing else rebuilt or replaced it still shakes and vibrates badly - enough to make you pine for a 240D... :laughing6:

I have a 54' 170SD in nice condition, I pine for extra power from a 240D (or anything really vs. the OM636). Apart from the engine sounding like a washing machine at idle it is pleasant to drive. It doesn't seem to mind sitting on 100 for extended periods and the only bad vibration I get is when turning it off – feels like the engine is trying to do a 360 in the engine bay. :laughing6:

They cant be too bad, back in the early 50's one was driven from Brisbane to Cairns and back. In those days there were hardly any roads.. (not much different today apart from the sealed surface..)

True, maybe it's just an unfair comparison as his 170SD shares a garage with a 300S, 220 cabriolet and 3 x 300 limousines among others. I'd be more than happy to take the 170 off his hands... :laughing6:

I can imagine the poor little 170 would be a little shaky compared to the 6 cylinder petrol cars but I'm sure it would be fine on the open road.

Could be worse Simon, at least yours can make it to 100km/h, unlike the earlier 260D which topped out at 95! :pale:

Yeah not sure what he/she was trying to say but as the post contained no spam or offensive material, I approved it. If you want to click on the links in the signature line that is your business, perhaps you might need a limo in New Jersey one day but yes if the member tries to promote his/her business interests outside of forum rules, then he/she will be banned.
Unfortunately I would agree that it is a spammer of sorts but as I said, I cannot see any rules having been breached. However the admins might see this differently and may well be in a banning mood.

Had a look at that "170D" on auction

Old wedding car with modern Japanese engine and transmission and running gear. :bs:

Had quite a few M.B.'s available - all in very bad state of affairs. - Will post some images later. (Finnie devotists need not look)

Not worth bidding on any of the cars.
There's a 560SL which looks like a money pit.

There's a 2004 W209 CLK320. Don't even like the look of it either. :hand:

Lots of restored U.S. cars some good. Lots of US car type enthusiasts checking them out

3 Jowett Javelins in a lamentable state. :sad11:

Thats a shame about the 170. But i wonder how a OM615 and later fourspeed would go to recapture a bit of the shakin'and smokin' ??. Jowetts fetch great money in the Uk and they are actually a very good car considering when they were built and a spiritual ancestor of the Subaru fours.

Are you sure that what they claim is a 560SL is actually a 560SL? they list it as 1971 on their info, and from the crappy photos it lookslike early W107 mirrors on there to me.

Why the hell do they put such rubbish photos up?

Details are all incorrect. Certainly a later looking M117 in the engine bay - I didn't capture an image of it - maybe tomorrow I'll get some more shots of this. 560SL badge on the rear -I didn't take much notice. The interior certainly looks early version is not 560 SL.

The owner of the business had many many cars on site. Many bodies with non original parts in them.

Vendors who don't get good images of the products they are selling are lunatics (IMHO)

Ewww... that's the same crappy shifter that is currently in my botched up W110. So that 170 probably has a datsun A12 or A14 in it... poor thing.

I hope someone saves those Finnies, even if they make one or two good ones out of the three. If the middle was registered in 2005 hopefully it hasn't gone downhill to badly.

The images I took are not representative of their condition. (Which is a horrible shame)

Too much rust in them all. Bits and pieces everywhere. I doubt if there are a sound set of seats between the whole lot.

There are 4 or 5 W126's also on site for sale. One is in recoverable condition (With a lot of work and $$$) the rest are beyond financial feasibility of recovery (Even most of the parts are rusted up or covered in weeds.)

Drew and myself visited a friend of mine who has a collection like this ...of parts cars .I lost count of the W123's laying about. Drew was impressed with the fact he is doing an engine swap on a lambo Miura.... putting a V12 BMW into it to save the miuras engine ,which he says are not much chop anyway. Oh to be so lucky!he has four 750I'ls to choose from for Donors.
