Can anghone help with measurements on subframe and frame

Post by berntd »

Hello

Does anyone perhaps have access to a front subframe and/ or a car without subframe?

I really need to confirm some dimensions on the subframe mounting points.

Anyone?

Regards
Bernt

iirc it's somewhere in the factory service manual.
Can't remember exactly where though.

I'll have a look later.

The data for the front subframe is in that thread as well..... if you read the last post. ;)

Aha. Thanks.
Interesting on first page
Dimensions 64c,d is 684mm.
It is the same on the drawing I have.

On my subframe it is 670mm!
And on my chassis/frame it is 668mm.

I have checked diagonally and it is not much off.

The rear dimensions 64a,b are 761. Same as given.

14mm is heaps and it can't just hide without some trace.

So are these drawings correct or not?

If they are correct, then I am missing 12-14mm. Where have they gone?

Who can do some measurements?

I actually have a copy of the chassis allignemnt manual for 107.

it needs a scan but that will take 2 weeks (work load atm). Will try to get you a photo from a mobile phone....

I would still like a on car verification if possible.
Pity one can't attach pictures on this forum.

Hahaa, a whole tab next to options.
I am on dozens of these forums but have never seen that. It is usually a paperclip above the text box. Or a drag n drop box.

But thanks Thomas!

Hi AMG

Is that R107 subframe the same as W115?

The dimensions in that document do not match my frame. I need to decide what to do next.

Can I use a W115 donor?

Floor frame reference drawing.

Image

I got this in 12Mpix (3MB), OzBenz allows only 2Mpix (0.7MB)....

Can moderators do something about this or make exceptional exception?

I also got AutoClimate MK1 service manual (well... more like technical manual)

That is great.

Notice how there are no dimensions given at the all important front!

Would you be able to take some specific pictures for me of your car at all?

My only other contact has gone quiet :-(

Best regards

Well, at this moment, I need to see/know:
1) What re-inforcement struts are in/at the radiator cowl and where do they attach. There are heaps of holes but I have no struts.

2) Some picture or description showing how the front of the valance / inner guard meets the sides of the nose/cowl. This will need a look from inside the engine bay forward into the space right at the front of the chassis rails where the valence, nose cowl, front traverse strut and chassis rsils meet.
Mine is a mess and not right.

3) A good picture or 2 showing the sheet metal around the shock mounts from inside the engine bay, If that is possible with all that stuff everywhere.

Best regards
Bernt
