The front indicators should be the clear ones, not the orange ones?

I thought Mercedes took a rather dim view of people infringing it's IP rights?

http://www.smh.com.au/executive-style/m ... 1vloz.html

I guess it's different in the US where the law only helps to protect IP if it's American IP.

I like how they talk about "Gullwing convertibles" at the end of the article. WTF??? idiots.

Isn't that one of those replicas with a M102 engine ? or is it one of the Corvette chassis cars?

Judging by this photo definitely more Corvette than M102....

Probably won't be the last one we see either:

http://www.autominded.com/1657_300-sl-r ... reats/news

Why bother with a corvette though, I would have thought it would be just as easy to get a rusty R107 and whack some fibreglass panels on it? This way the proportions are somewhat correct (wheelbase etc are fairly similar) and you have a car that actually drives properly, not just a tube chassis with a pushrod V8, ford suspension and datsun brakes. Would be a good way to save a rusty 107... :think:

Especially if it's a 107.041 and then it's not even a fake 300SL.

Or this one;

is it just me or are the wipers always wrong on these replicas? Are they meant to be slanted to the left when at rest?

A slant Six??? Actually damned good engines and chrysler made hundreds of thousands of them . They were actually going to be aluminium but the costs got out of hand. It was a cheap solution to use the same patterns and tooling to build them in cast iron instead. This meant that the blocks turned out to be insanely strong. I have seen an Aston Martin DB5 with a slant six ,that ran faster than the original engine.. :laughing6: :laughing6:

i see the chev aircleaner in that triple pic. A late model Corvette would be ideal though. Brilliant engineering with the torque tube and rear trans layout . Not new,even for GM, which had the similar setup in the 1960's pontiac tempest and Alfa and Lancia had it for years. Ferrari's Daytona was another .
