4-speed manual clutch adjustment

Is there a method to adjust the clutch? Take up is happening very close to the floor and thus not completely disengaging and shifting is difficult.

So for now I'm getting by with a bit of heel and toe on the downshift, and putting it into gear before starting the engine.

Fluid levels are good and no evidence of air in the lines. Otherwise all is well...

Appreciate any guidance!

It is a hydraulically operated clutch.

The only thing to adjust is the extension rod on the slave (mounted on the gearbox).
Undo the nut and extend the plunger. Make sure there is 1-2 mm of free play otherwise your throw out bearing will wear very quickly.

On the W114 manual the bolt that connects the actuation rod to the pedal is eccentric. If there is free play as you depresss the pedal then loosen rotate and tighten.

Sounds like the clutch is worn out . you measure the wear by the amount of rod protruding from the slave cylinder . Theres a guage that you place against the rod to determine the wear .

Is this achievable with a trolley jack and axle stands or is a hoist necessary?

To adjust the rod (or measure as Ron said), you need to jack up the car high enough so you can slide underneath.
I put my jack stands on 100 mm timber blocks.

Jack stands are certainly the go, but a hoist is always easier...

OK the lock nut on the clutch throw rod had come loose.

That's fixed, but now waiting on a seal kit for the master cylinder as it's not pumping enough.
